2018 Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications: timeline and updates

Thought I would share my situation incase someone else is dealing with something similar:

My partner and I applied for sponsorship in March, 2018. Everything went well until January 2019. We were expecting a DM to come through but instead CIC have asked for more information to prove we were living together for a one year period prior to applying, and that they don't think we currently meet the requirements to be considered common-law in Canada. Their language implied that I most likely won't be able to immigrate to Canada unless we can supply more evidence.

Our challenge is we were living with my Canadian partner's parents during the year before we applied. So we didn't have a joint lease or bills. We did have bank accounts and many other documents and also originally supplied a letter from her mother stating we lived on the property throughout that period.

Originally that letter from her mother was not notarized so we had a new letter from her notarized as well as several other letters from government bodies that were in communication with us both from that address. We also found more evidence from that period in the form of invoices and contract agreements.

My partner and I also moved into an apartment together after we applied and presented new evidence that we now have our own lease and bills. We are also now engaged so presented evidence of that as well as a date for our wedding and evidence we had booked a venue and our families were traveling to the wedding.

My questions is:

Has anyone had experience when notarizing a letter from the home owner you were living with has made an impact?

And has showing continued evidence of cohabitation and a committed relationship after your application date had any affect on the outcome of an application?

We supplied a lot of new evidence but am wondering what other peoples experience has been when CIC request additional information and whether evidence that I have documented above impacts their decision making process?

Temporary Resident Status in Canada
You must have legal temporary resident status in Canada to remain in the country legally. Having legal temporary residence status means you are in possession of a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) which allows you to remain in Canada for the period of time specified on this document. This document may in the form of a visitor extension, work permit, study permit or temporary resident permit.
Although out-of-status spouses and common-law partners may now apply for permanent residence in the Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada Class, persons without legal immigration status in Canada may be subject to removal proceedings at any time for failing to have or maintain legal immigration status in Canada.



Applying for an open work permit and/or study permit
If you have not already done so, you may now apply for an open work permit, which will allow you to work in the occupation and location of your choice. You may also apply for a study permit. If applying for a study permit, please ensure you include a letter from the educational institution you plan to attend. The letter should outline the type of course or program for which you are registered, the start date and the expected completion date. To obtain the correct forms, please visit the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website at www.canada.ca.

When should I contact IRCC?

 Decision to withdraw your application.

I had contacted them about it via the Web Forum. They asked for screen shots and details of all the info I am entering. I replied with the info and got an emaul stating that everything is fine on their end and that I am entering everything right and shouldn't be getting the message that I am. They concluded by saying they would look further into this and get back to me but so far they haven't. And it's been 6 weeks now.

I've tried calling a few times but never been able to connect with an agent though.

I don't have a title, I think it just my case number, but the letter says:

This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class.

We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada office in Vancouver Immigration will contact you to arrange an appointment for the finalization of your permanent resident application. ... ... ...

Post a new message on the Forum regarding your case so that everyone can see your case/questions and anyone knows the answer of your questions can give you an advice.

My suggestion is to hire a very good immigration lawyer to make a letter for you and check all your documents before you submit if you can afford it. But if not and you’re confident enough with your proof of evidence go ahead as I believe it has a deadline so good luck and be positive.

Hello all,
More than 12 months still no update on the application. Applied on 7th feb 2018. Really frustrating. Does anyone know is there something we can do. I called cic and they told me everything is going good. But this is really frustrating.

Feb 23rd 2018 applicant here, and like you, I am still waiting. I received a PF letter on 17th January, because I am unable to get my 2 dependents (who live with their mother in Oz) examined, due to the children's mother's intransgience in regards to "helping" me (as she sees it). I submitted a 3 page notarized letter and an additional 32 page letter with a full rundown on how I am unable to exercise my parental rights. So far, not a thing back. "No news is good news", they say. But to quote a line from a great old English comedian "I feel as comfortable as a lame turkey, sitting on a packet of stuffing, listening to Christmas carols"...
