Our family recently migrated to Toronto from Singapore. We had a Filipina caregiver in Singapore whom we are trying to get to Toronto via the temporary foreign worker program (TFWP).
We got our LMIA approved, and applied for her work permit on Jan 5th. Last week IRCC came back asking for some additional documents (Singapore police certificate for worker & employer latest bank statement) which we have provided.
Her application is being processed by the Canadian embassy in Singapore.
My Questions are as below:
1. Since the worker is a Filipina, i understand the Philippine government has other requirements / documentation to be processed. I am hearing terms like POLO, OWWA etc and I am not familiar with these as i am not from the Philippines. Could anyone advise me or point me to the right place on what needs to be done with respect to Philippine government processing?
2. My helper is still in Singapore currently. If her Canadian work permit gets approved, can she directly fly from SG to CA? Will she face issues at SG airport because she doesn't have those POLO/OWWA related papers?
3. What are the implications if she does not visit Philippines and travels directly from Singapore to Canada?
