Canada New born baby not added to COPR - Landing question

Hi All,

I am currently working in Canada on Work Permit. I had applied for my PR and recently received my landing Papers (COPR).

My baby was born in Canada but I did not notify CIC of my new born. So, the COPR dependent information does not contain my new born child information.

Is there any process to add dependent information to COPR after receiving it ?

I spoke to CIC Agent and she suggested to talk to the Immigration Officer during the landing process.

I am concerned because if i go for landing and there is some issue because of the above, I don't have any other visa to enter Canada again except PR Visa that was provided along with COPR.

Please let me know your advice.

If your baby was born in Canada, he is a Canadian citizen, not a PR and not your dependent for the PR process (he should not be included as your dependent as you don't ask for him to obtain the PR status).

If you travel abroad for your landing, make sure you have the proper travel documents for your baby (Canadian citizen documents, either passport or travel doc) but do not worry about your COPR for him.

yep, you are fine. same was the case with me as well.

Thanks for your response. As per the instructions accompanying COPR from CIC "Presenting Permanent Resident Visa(s) which do not correspond to the reality of your family situation could not only result in the refusal of your admission to Canada but may bar you from entering Canada for a period of 5 years."

Hence I am worried that I will loose even my current status if I proceed for landing without fixing the details in COPR.

During the landing process, did the officer ask any questions about your child who was born in Canada and why you did not inform CIC about his/her birth?

You misunderstand.

If you have had another child while your PR application is in process, of course you MUST notify IRCC. Note that if the child is born in Canada and is therefore a Canadian citizen, you will not be adding him/her to your application for permanent residence. But you must still inform IRCC and provide proof of citizenship (e.g. birth certificate, passport).

Because the child is not being processed for PR, they will not be included on the COPR, and do not need to "land". If the child accompanies you during the landing process, you would just need to bring their documents with you.

Hi l am in the same situation were you guys able to land without any trouble l got my COPR but my baby who is a Canadian was not declared l was pregnant during the application so informed cic that l would take x Ray only after the baby was born and did so. Is it ok not informing them lam planning to call ircc tomorrow

It is really not difficult to send a webform notification about your newborn and that they are Canadian citizens, and then attach proof of the child's citizenship (e.g. birth certificate or passport). It will not have any impact on your application. That is a lot easier than worrying about it.

Thank you for the reply l have raised a web form however my COPR was issued before that and i do not have any proof that l have informed them. This makes me nervous. Will it still be ok

It will be OK, just inform them. Keep a copy of the submission if you can. It will have no impact on your application (unless you fail to inform IRCC before you land, probably not much then, either). Then when you land, you can just mention that you sent the update by webform. The important thing is that you inform IRCC before you land.

Thank you l received an email in response to my web form one line in that state that the offcer will contact you if there is any change in your application status. My application is already approved. Hope that’s just a formality and everything will be fine worrying too much about little things that’s me sorry for asking same thing over and over

Hello, I'm in almost a similar situation. I gave birth after getting my CoPr. And since my husband is a canadian, we already got our baby's canadian passport and canadian citizenship certificate. So what do I do ? I don't wanna have any problem when i land with my baby in canada.I've sent ircc a webform informing em of the change. But no reply. Please let me know if anyone been in the same situation.
