Hi everyone, I am a PR and sponsoring my wife from China. From my understanding, her application should be sent to Hong Kong. Is this right? If yes, I have been checking many threads and I could not find any applications that were sent this location... Could anyone provide me a estimate processing time? Or your recent timeline for reference? Thank you very much!

Sorry, I think I missed an important piece of information here. We are doing a outland application.

Hey Tim! My husband's application is in HK as well. Application date May 8, transferred from Sydney to HK Aug 3rd. Pre arrival received Jan 23rd. Nothing since. It's a huge waiting game, and test of patience ;) Expect to wait the full 12months and just remind yourself that it is a process!

Also, find the thread of the month you applied and there will be a link to the tracker... Then you can see who else has registered their applications, which VOs they are in and what step they are on. That being said, each case is unique and you really can't go by other people's time lines. It's a 12month game, all going smoothly!

Also, as you're doing an Outland application, you don't send the application directly to HK, you must send to a Canadian processing centre first. Check the requirements in the forms, it'll tell you where to send it (mississauga or Sydney). They will first process you and determine if your are eligible to be a sponsor, then they will send it to your wife's VO (HK), and process her there.

Thanks so soooo much for your information!!!! You mentioned that your application was submitted in August and your hubby received pre-arrival in January. Does this time frame include the process of checking your sponsorship eligibility? Or just the time they processed your hubby's application?

Thanks for the headsup there! I actually did not see that I need to send mine to Mississauga or Sydney... So mine will be processed in these two places and hers will stay in HK. HK center will not do anything until mine is checked and approved. Is that right? Thank you again!!!

Happy to help!
Mississauga received my husband's application on May 8, 2018 (we s. They initally reviewed the application to make sure nothing pertinent was missing. Then they processed me, approved me as a sponsor, and then the file was transferred to HK to process my husband. HK received his file on Aug 3rd. The total processing time of 12months starts from the date it is received by IRCC (in my case, May 8th). We're just waiting and waiting...trying our patience, but we know it will come, just like yours once you submit your app!! :D Check the checklist (I'm pretty sure that's where it says where to send it).

Hi if your case is simple, it takes around 7 months. I have seen many cases. Hong Kong office is one of the fastest. I am jealous of you.

If your case is complicated, you will get interview at your 9th month. Not like LVO, we don't get anything no matter if it is simple or complicated case..it's my 10th months now. Nothing.

sigh... but we just found out that we have limited evidence to prove our relationship because we did not live together before marriage and we just got married a month ago. We don't share a lot of things: no shared phone bills, no joint account, no jointly purchased house... we have find other way to prove our relationship, which is kind of a hurdle..

What you mentioned above are not necessarily the evidence for spouse, but more of common law. Many spouses that I know who successfully finished their application in 7 months, did not have above because they did not live together before marriage. It is quiet common that you are not able to provide above. You can prepare photos, chat history, gift receipts, etc. instead. You should read the checklist and find out.

Good point! I will check the checklist and see if I can do anything!! BTW, our chat history is all in app like wechat. should I copy it out and paste it on Word?
