Hi,

I am posting today because I am really worried about my situation and I cannot found any answers.

I applied for a spouse visa on December 12 2018. It’s been exactly 2 months and I haven’t received any email to either confirmed that they received my application or if the sponsor was approved.

My current work permit expires in March 22 2019, so I don’t know what to do and I don’t know if anyone had similar experiences.

Normal, AOR is taking 2-3 months at a minimum. Applied to extend your stay as a visitor to ensure you remain in status.

I was thinking about that but is that common that I haven’t received a confirmation of my application?
AOR would be the first confirmation. If you paid for tracking on the package the postal service would let you know if it arrived, but that's it.

If you're in Canada and working and you applied for a spousal sponsorship you must keep your permit up to date until the day you receive your PR. Or you will lose your status in Canada.

If you applied for a work permit and have proof of a tracking number you fall under implied status until they make a decision on your application. It is your duty to keep your work permit up to date. Also after your wife has been approved as a sponsor and your considered approved as a applicant you are eligible to apply for an open work permit.

I think I just answered you on another thread, yes, it is a good idea to extend your stay as a visitor.
