Hi ,

I have got my PR Card and I am outside Canada, my PR card expiry is 01-Dec-2023.

I want to delay my move to Canada as farthest as I can.

can someone please guide me how late it could be , as someone told me that due to residency obligations you must re-enter Canada by 30-nov-2021 and live there for at least two years.

can someone please comment on this ?

Thanks.

Not sure why people apply if they don't want to move anytime soon. Your family must meet the RO of 2 out of 5 years from your landing date to remain in good status. If you leave it to the last minute but then need to travel for family or work you will have some tough choices to make so you should not leave it to the last minute. You can only sponsor children if you are current with your PR.

Nov 30, 2021 isn't your date - it's earlier. What date did you land and become a PR?

Hi ,

Yup thanks good point, my landing date was 8th October 2018.
So the latest you should plan to come back would be 7th October 2021 and even then if you have been away all that time you should be prepared for the possibility of a secondary review at the border. May happen may not. If you leave it this long then once back you of course need to stay put for at least 2 years without leaving at all.

Note after the initial 5 years from landing you need to show 2 years residency in the 5 years preceeding each new entry to the country so keep this in mind.
