Who can become a sponsor
You can become a sponsor if you are:

  • at least 18 years old
  • a Canadian citizen, a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or a permanent resident living in Canada:
    • If you are a Canadian citizen living outside Canada, you must show that you plan to live in Canada when your sponsored relative(s) become(s) a permanent resident.
    • You can’t sponsor someone if you are a permanent resident living outside Canada.
  • able to prove that you are not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability, and;
  • can provide for the basic needs of any person you are sponsoring (and in some limited situations, that you meet the low-income cut-off).

I got decision made on ecas sponsor side
Application received on November 1. What should I get after that?
You’ll receive an email shortly informing you of sponsorship approval.

Following that you’ll be looking at medical requests and biometrics. Then your application will be sent to your local VO. That’s confirmed when you get AOR2.

If they don’t approve you as a sponsor is there any way to know? Does ECAS say ‘decision made’? Do they send you an email? Thanks

So far as I know yes.
I’m waaaay over 18 lol, born Canadian, I work full time. Never sponsored someone before. Does anyone know what the low income cut off amount is yearly? Are we talking like under $30,000?
