Hi,

I graduated from university in May 2016 from Nova Scotia. I unfortunately couldn’t get a job until recently (October 2018), so I’ve only been working in Nova Scotia for 5 months. My PG visa expired in June. Would I still be able to apply through the Atlantic immigration pilot? And submit letters showing that I’ve been living here since 2012 and would like to stay and continue working? Provides that my employer is a designated employer. I can’t think of other ways to stay in Canada.

Unfortunately I don’t think you have enough work experience for this program, you must have at least the following.

Your eligibility requirements
Work experience
In the last 3 years, you must have worked at least 1,560 hours. This is how many hours you would have worked in a year if you were working 30 hours per week.

To calculate your hours:
  • Count hours worked in part-time and full-time jobs
  • The hours must be in one occupation, but they can be with different employers
  • You must have been paid for these hours. Volunteering or unpaid internships don’t count
  • Don’t count hours where you were self-employed
  • These working hours can be inside or outside Canada
