I just have a quick process question, if someone can answer it.

I've gotten my AOR, linked my application to my online account, had my medical (passed) and RCMP fingerprint results uploaded. So basically I'm in background-check-land. What happens from here, step by step? They tell me if I pass the background check and then.....?

My timeline so far:

Application received in Mississauga July 3 (2018)
AOR August 9
Linked PR application August 23
Linked OWP application August 24
OWP approved September 25
OWP received October 1
Medical Exam Requested October 23
Fingerprints Requested October 29
Medical Exam Completed November 22
Fingerprints Taken November 19
Medical Exam Passed November 30

Do you have savings, assets? If not, then you really to ask yourself how are you going to support your spouse. Were you thinking that your spouse will be the one working an the provider for the family in Canada?

my spouse has a work visa in the US while also an asylum case in the US. I am a PR in Canada. I want to sponsor her to come to Canada. Can I apply to bring her to Canada before our sponsorship case goes through? Please advise.

Hi everyone, can someone please help me with this question:

1. My wife signed and dated the forms and mailed it to me (except for my sign and date in form 1344 and 5532) but I have missed sending application on that date due to my down health. I am hoping to send the app in the next few days. Please advise what do I do. Should I ask her to mail me new forms with another date? Or should I sign my forms with the same date? Or is it ok if I sign my forms with the date of sending the application?

Is it ok to have two different dates on the forms?

2. In the photos (wedding and all other for different trips, events, functions, travels etc.), whose name do we put behind the photo. Is it principal applicant or sponsor?

But here is my answer,

1. Yes different dates is fine as long its consistent with the PA’s side. And the sponsor (yours) has also same dates at the time you signed them all. Make sure to put signatures to thise designated.

2. The PA’s name and information. Since shes the one suppose to send those requirements as said in the document checklist.

form is not accepting the format "red border error"because sequences are not matching. how do you deal with that?

You just have to make sure all dates are in sequence and not skipped. And just write in correspondence to the date and what are the whereabouts. Thats what i did with mine.

My boyfriend and I are planning to get married, our relationship are genuine we were dating for almost a year and as I am here on a student visa he wanted to help me with immigration. The thing is he does not want to live together. And we were not planning to have the ceremony (because of the money) I afraid it might be a problem and officer might have some questions. Could you please advise is there any other way to go around this (not living together)?

but the form wont let me validate by showing errors, since she has job/study overlaps and simultaneus.

It didnt really matter as long as the dates arent skipped and everything was filled. The red box will show or it will say what error.

The ceremony is a must if you want to apply for the spouse sponsorship, however, if you apply under the common-law you have to prove that you and he were living together at least for one year. For the last one, you will need to show proof of that like rental agreement or same address in driver licenses. You can check some of the requirements on the CIC website. If he does not want to live with you it is okay, but it will jeopardize your application. I mean, remember the objective of the sponsorship program is to bring or keep spouse or partner together. The officer will ask himself or herself why if you got married and you are in Canada you do not live with your partner. It will be something that anyone would ask.

You do not need to spend a fortune in the ceremony, if you get married in Ontario, specifically in the City Hall, the total cost is around 400 CAD or so and that includes the license and the ceremony. I know it looks a lot but I will see it as an investment and for the celebration, you can do whatever you wish. I mean it is your marriage and in the letter, your partner can explain why you guys decided to do it in that way. I believe they are not looking for a high- budget wedding.

In your case, my best advice is to talk to your partner and read with him all the requirements and see if you guys can fill them. You have the Express Entry as an option in any case. Check it out. Good Luck.

I don't think ceremony is a must, but it is strongly recommended. For spousal sponsor, marriage certificate is a must.
