I am getting a job offer from Toronto and they are asking about my salary expectations. I did some research and it seems like Toronto is incredible expensive.

What is a normal cost of living for a single guy? I would want my own apartment and maybe lease a normal car for travel between office and home if the apartment is away from Downtown Toronto.

Exactly, in my building downtown, people buy a condo, have a car, but do not check out the parking situation. Parking spots in my building go for $50k. It was a separate transaction apart from when I bought the condo.

not that useful, it doesn't take into account vehicle insurance.
Cost of living is dependent on your life style. This only gives you a direction and rough estimates

Don't get a car. You will have to rely on public transportation if you work downtown.

not direction it gives mis-direction

best is to stay in a basement in downtown in some cold-shithole

Again life style choice. Yours vs others.

Check out this site for an idea on prices https://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living/toronto

You can compare it with your home town

It is highly dependent on your lifestyle. Do you go out often? Do you eat out? Do you buy car or lease? Do you want 1bed 2bed apt or so? Could be from 1k/month to 4k/month easily.

1K/month would be pretty difficult these days:)
