PR Status Confusion

Hello

I am hoping this attaches to previous thread.

Briefly in March last year we applied for a work permit for myself and my wife to work and live in Canada. By September we had not heard anything so made the decision to come across as visitors and live with my family hoping they would come through.

We then subsequently found out that I still had PR Status from my childhood ( lived here from a baby (not born here)until 5 years old, moved back to UK when parents seperated). My father, two half sisters and half brother all live in Canada. Immigration control were confused by my status as my original name never shows me leaving the country.I am guessing as I was so young that I travelled on my mothers passport. My name changed (adopted by step dad in my teens)

I understand the ruling around PR status and not hitting the criteria for living in the country in so many years etc but the government are not able to answer the question surrounding my PR Status showing incorrectly and if it means anything to me. We would like if someone has had any dealings with this sort of issue, whether we can use the PR status from my childhood on a technacility etc etc.

Various people have advised live here for two years and then get it renewed, some have said I should not be here as a visitor with PR status, should not have applied for a work permit but its always a different answer and when I've pressed the government on it they are not sure

Help !

Many Thanks

Do you have a SIN#? If not you would have to remain in Canada and not work for 2 years to reclaim your PR.
Hi. I was never given a SIN, guessing being a child when under original PR Status ? a government official who I spoke with outside of office hours advised that as their systems shows I never left the country they are struggling to process our file and are not sure how to respond to my questions around it.

Many parents get their children SIN#. Would keep contacting the person you spoke with an ask when they might figure it out. Unfortunately unusual things in immigration aren't usually solved quickly.
