Hello friends,

I am a qualified chartered accountant from India and filing for PR in Canada. Since June 2017, I am doing my own practice as a chartered accountant. To prove my work experience, I am taking reference letters from my 3 clients mentioning my duties/working hours/professional fees. Do I need to include any other thing??

Also, Will letters from 3 clients would be sufficient??

Further, I want to confirm that what evidence of payment receipt shall I submit as I had received all the payment from clients in cash only ??

Thank you in advance

Hi,

As per ircc
  • if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience).

- company registration papers
- invoices sent to clients
- reference letters from clients explaining services provided
- bank statements showing payments received

These are the documents you should ideally attach to prove self employment. Since you have accepted cash payments its a tricky situation. I'm not sure what proof you will be able to show. The only thing I can think of is to get it written in the reference letter from clients. Mention payment charged per service and that it was made in cash. But honestly, I'm not sure if it will work.

Don't you have any prior full-time work experience?

Thank You for your reply.

I was thinking to take separate letter heads from clients mentioning professional fees details and to upload them along with cash ledger account of my firm. Will it work?

Further, I have work experience of 3.6 years in job before the self employment experience. Will it be ok if some documents are missed in case of self employment experience?? If in case, they do not get satisfied with the self employed documents, will it hamper my profile process???

Thank you in advance :)

Work experience papers should be 100 % proper as you are claiming points for it. It won't be ok if some documents are missing. If ircc is not satisfied with your documents then you will be rejected.

Why don't you get reference letter from your previous work experience of 3.6 years. Won't that be a safer route to take?

I have arranged all documents including reference letters and salary slips for my previous jobs of 3.6 years.
Thats why i was asking if in case any document in self employed work experience is not proper, will it be a problem??

Then you have nothing to worry about. Maximum crs points are given for 3 yrs of work experience. You don't need to show more work experience than that. So in your case you don't have to provide any documents for your self employment.

Actually, I have shown it while submitting express entry profile and i have received ITA also. I think, now, its mandatory to show documents for all the jobs i had entered in work history or can i delete it from work history now???

You can make changes post ITA, as long as it does not affect your score. Yes, you can delete it from work experience section and mention it only in the personal history section. Experience that you are claiming points for should be in the work experience section and rest should be mentioned under personal history. Write an loe saying you have moved it to personal history as you are not claiming any points for it.

Hi,
I am in a similar situation. Curious to know how it eventually turned out for nikitajindal22. Did the reference letters from clients alone suffice?

Hello Friends,

I made the changes post ITA as recommended by @prpurohit and showed only work experience in job. I moved my self employed work experience to personal history section as it was not affecting my CRS. For the work experience, I just uploaded job reference letter from my employers mentioning all the required information. I got my PR too within 68 days only.

I discussed it with may people during my time and everybody told me that its very difficult to prove self employed work experience and satisfy IRCC. I will recommend to avoid showing self employed work experience, if possible.

In your case, was it difficult because all your self-employed transactions were settled in cash? If we have bank transactions to show, would it be okay?

Hi
I also want to know the same thing. All my proprietorship payments were made to my company account.
Will that suffice?
