@canuck_in_uk can you please help?

Hi there,

I have been cohabiting with my partner for already 10 months. We are planning to apply for the sponsorship this March. However, my family member passed away today, and this requires me to leave Canada. My current visa is good until March 18th.
My questions are:
1. How long can I stay separated from my partner for attending the funeral ?
2. How can I prove that I go back for it?
3. How can I come back to Canada after let’s say 2 weeks? (My visa expires on March 18th.)
Thanks Kaur!
Just a follow up question, for ecas (Status Check); if I use my UCI#, on the bottom part, will that be my personal details (surname, DOB, place of birth) or her details? Also, how will I get the application#? Will I receive an email from IRCC later on?
Appreciate for sharing your knowledge.

For status check if you enter your UCI then all details will be yours.
you can also use receipt no. and then put principle applicant's details.
For the application no. you will receive email from IRCC or whatever method you have selected for communication (i.e.: Mail or Email)

1. Anything more than 2 weeks risks a break in becoming common-law.

2. Not sure what you are asking.

3. Not sure what you are asking again. You just come back.

Hi @canuck_in_uk ,

Thanks for your prompt response.

2. I mean how can I proof I go back for funeral when applying for sponsorship?

3. My visa expires on March 18th. If I leave this week and come back in two weeks before my visitor visa expires, will it be a problem? Because last time the custom officer told me I am not supposed to leave until my visa expires, I am very confused. If I come back in two weeks, what can I say to the custom? I am from a visa- exempt country.

Thanks for your help!
Guys, I'm in Canada (PR) and my gf is in US. We're planning to go to a court in the US to get our marriage registered. This will get us the marriage certificate required for spousal sponsorship. My question is regarding the proof that we need to provide.

Will the certificate from US court suffice? Or do we need some marriage photos of rituals we perform as per Hindu/Indian culture?
I have heard that file goes to NDVO and they ask for the photos of marriage as per hindu rituals. Is that correct?

Hi All,

I am a Canadian PR and getting married in the end of January 2019. My to be wife had applied for TRV in December 2018, showing me as a friend. At the time we were not engaged or anything. Her TRV has already been approved, and We are planning to apply for Outland PR sponsorship in second week of February post our wedding.

Would this create an issue during her PR sponsorship due to TRV?

Thanks in advance!

Hey everybody, I'm currently living in Japan and looking to sponsor my wife (Japanese). I've lived here for almost 6 years, and whenever I've done my taxes in Canada I've always had to use my parents current address which is in Quebec... neither of us have any intention on living in Quebec, our plan is to begin living in Ontario immediately.

Does anyone know if there is a way to reflect this on our application to avoid the extra Quebec steps altogether? I don't speak any French at all...

I have a family member who lives in Ontario that is offering to let me use their address/stay there while we get settled, but I'm just worried since I've been using this Quebec address for taxes all these years it's going to cause us some problems.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So last month you were only friends, and at the end of this month your getting married? Interesting

because there is no option to fill in the status as engaged, so people usually put relationship as a friend:)

"at the time,, WE WERE NOT ENGAGED OR ANYTHING" is what he said.....
yeah my bad, but there is no option for lover as well :D but that is good they got a visa, bcz after wedding it's difficult to get visitor visa :(
