I got letters from my 2 banks stating my average balance of last months. The banks in US just provided me letters in their own format which doesn't match the format CIC is requesting. Hence like everyone I am thinking to provide last 6 months of bank statements along with these letters.

My question is - Each bank statement has a main page showing the funds and then details of where the money was spent and how much direct deposit I got from my employer and all. I have multiple bank statements (due to accounts in 2 banks) and these would make the file go beyond 4MB (which I guess is the max file size).

When you guys sent proof of funds, did you send them detailed bank statements or just the front page of the bank statement?

The format doesn't matter if it has all the information mentioned on IRCC website.

Also, banks in US may be able to provide everything needed. The term they may be familiar with is "Validation of deposit". One of my online banks had an automated report with this name and I came to know about it when I reached out to them regarding a bank letter. I used the same terminology with 2 other US banks and they knew exactly what I was looking for. Once I mentioned 'Validation of deposit" they asked me whether I needed it for home mortgage or immigration.

So, try using that term and see if your US bank provides you that report. You may not need to include your bank statements post that as it will have all the information IRCC has prescribed.

One of my banks is not providing any letters through on call or online request. I will have to visit the actual bank which is in another. I happened to go there so I got the letter as well. So probably with have to proceed with what I have. It does provide an average balance which is definitely more than what IRCC is looking for, but my friends suggested me to add some bank statements too.

Yeah if average balance is not mentioned on letter it would be good to include last 6 months statement.

Yes, it is better to include bank statements as well.

With regard to size of the file, compress it. you can include it. I have tried documents which are excessively larger and it worked.

I found some software with which I was able to get it down to 3MB. The quality is not super great but it's readable. Thanks for your help guys.

Yeah I didn't wanted to use any online tools for bank related docs.. I finally found a software to download and with it's trial version I was able to reduce the file size.
