Hey there. My husband is from South America he is on visitor visa here... it expires in about 1 month. I don’t want him to leave BUT I cannot sponsor him yet due to my undischarged bankruptcy... it’s going to be another year before I’m discharged. I’m afraid and worried he’ll be refused and I’ll have to leave Canada to be with him ; spouses shouldn’t be separated! Can anybody suggest anything. Please help! Thanks.

If he qualifies for PR through an economic stream like Express Entry, he can apply for PR on his own rather than waiting for you to be able to sponsor him.

Otherwise he'll just have to apply to extend his visitor status and hope it's approved.

Thank you. Is it likely that these extensions are approved? I’m supporting him but I can’t officially do the sponsership. Any other methods his score was high but not high enough we heard so I’m not sure we can go this route. I may be moving to South America and there goes my life I’m beautiful Canada. This is the most anxious ever so much to read!!!! I’m just hoping he won’t be denied. Would I just show them my bank statements when applying? I’m the one financing everything because he can’t work now but he’s my husband so it’s fine i

Maybe say in a letter that I will be applying for a spousal sponsership once my bankruptcy discharge take effect and lll be the one contributing to the bills? Something like that? I wonder how many extensions he can get wish I wasn’t bankrupt I did this all to set us up not knowing how bad it would affect the sponsership

There is a place in the app where it asks for the purpose, so he should state there that he is applying for sponsorship. You should include a letter stating you will support him and proof of your finances. I would leave out the bankruptcy.

That’s great thanks a lot. Fingers crossed he can stay with me... if not I will be applying to leave Canada which would suck because I love Canada. But leaving your spouse for 6 months etc that’s too much. I rather go. So I pray it’ll go through!!!!!
