Is it possible to defer admissions to next term at uOttawa if visa arrives late?

Only the University can tell you that. My University doesn't have any deferral policy whatsoever. Yet, they made an exception for me.

Hi I also have the same case as you.I have not recieved my Student visa and my classes has already begin on Jan -7-2019 in UOttawa.
Which course are you in?And when did u apply fro the visa?

Thank you so much for the reply. I’m glad to speak to someone in a similar situation. I applied first in November 28 , got rejected on 12 December and reapplied 13 December on sds. Eligibility review started yesterday. I’m in the social sciences program( joint honours in Maths and Economics).

When are your classes starting??
I applied in Oct,still my application states that they are reviewing the eligibility.I do not know how long should i wait before asking the university for defer.
Have you tried contacting the CIC(Embassy)?

Mine started on 7 Jan as well. I contacted the uni to defer my offer. They said no. They said I have to reapply if I want to attend in September. I really don’t know what to do. The only thing I haven’t done with them is to beg. I wrote a really kind letter asking for a deferral and also made a phone call. The person on the phone told me deferrals can’t be guaranteed but told me to write to the admissions office with the proof of submission of visa application. I did so and the reply to my email was that deferals are permissible only in exceptional circumstances. If this isn’t an exceptional circumstance I don’t know what is.

Oh My God.It is a serious issue then.I do not know when will I get my visa if the uni asks for them during defer.

I’m Indian. I applied by myself. My medical has passed and eligibility review started. But the problem is even if I get my visa in say two weeks time, I will still miss a lot of classes. I wish we could tackle this issue directly with university officials. The problem now is all my original documents are with the university, so I can’t evenapply again to any university. I’m in a terrible situation.

Back to the point regarding deferral, I have seen several people who posted on a different forum about getting a deferral for other reasons. But this was two years ago, so their policy might have changed since then. Do you know anyone else who faces the same situation?

Na,I do not know anyone with the same scene as ours.I am just finding people just like you.
But still I did not understand what could be the ground they would be granting defer.

What are your plans now?
