Hi,work permit is not a travel document... u need to apply for work visa first..
Hi,no no.. let me rephrase it.. work permit allows you to work once u r in canada...to enter canada you need a visa.. unless u r US citizen ...
Step 1: Are you a us citizen ? if yes u can enter and work on that permit , but do u have LMIA, because u cannot imply get permit on basis on nomination, nomination is separate thin. and Getting work permit is separate process
Step 2: I am guess u should have LMIA as you said its employer specific. Can you please confirm this
Hi,
I am not a US citizen. I have a LMIA-exempt work permit (exemption code T13, case type 52). It is a closed work permit valid until 2020.[/QUOTE
Hi,ok step 1: u need work visa to enter canda or what we called a TRV.
Step2: NO officer will force u for permanent residency, its against law.

Hi,
Thank you for your help! So if I understand correctly I can apply for my Temporary Resident Visa with my current work permit and then I will be allow to travel outside Canada and come back without any problems? Is there a chance that I would not receive a TRV? Also for how long do they usually give you TRV? Until your work permit is valid?
Thank you!
