Happy New Year!

It's been about 4 years since I received my Canadian citizenship. It's a big family decision for us, so even a few words of your knowledge and experience would be a big help.

Q1) Sponsoring/Inviting Parents
My parents used to be Canadian permanent residents. However, they had to give up their permanent residency as they had to go back to South Korea for family matters.
  • I would like to invite my parents to Canada. Will it be harmful because of their previous record of giving up the PM?
  • What are the procedures and documents required to invite my parents to Canada?
Q2) Sponsoring/Inviting Partner
I have a Korean nationality partner who came to Canada for the first time about two years ago and has been studying a PhD at school.
  • We are planning to get married soon, and I'd like to know what might be the fastest procedure that my partner could obtain PM. What is the processing time that my partner could obtain a PM?

Q3) Sponsor Qualifications/Requirements
  • If I sponsor/invite my parents to Canada for their PM/citizenship, can I still sponsor/invite my partner/spouse to Canada as well?
  • If I sponsor/invite my parents to Canada (they are South Korean), can they obtain a dual citizenship?
  • Super visa or PM sponsorship? Which is better?
Thank you so much for your help. :)

Parent/Grandparent sponsorship program opens again at the end of January. They are selecting randoms applications, and has a timeline of 20 to 24 months IF you are chosen to be able to apply.
Also, you would be obligated to meet the LICO requirements and financially support them for between 3 and 20 years.
I dont think you can do 2 types of undertaking at a time, but someone else may be able to answer that.

For your partner, you are planning to get married. I would suggest doing that, applying to sponsor your partner first, then when that is through, do the parents. The quickest way to have your partner get PR is to be married, or common law with enough proof. The time frame for that, is currently 12 months.
IMO, apply for the visiting visa for the parents.

Some corrections. The first 20,000 expressions of interest will be selected and not random lottery. Applications are being processed between 6-24 months. You are financially responsibly for 20 years under PGP.

You can sponsor parents and spouse at the same time if you meet LICO for all.

Inland and outland application both take around 12 months. With an inland application you can apply for an OWP as well and get that 4 months later.

No, it's not lottery but to quote the website itself,...
"We email the randomly selected potential sponsors and invite them to apply." -- that's what I was referring to, sorry didnt mean to infer it was a lottery type selection.
Also, according to processing times on the website, updated Dec 31st, it shows 20-24 months, so was just giving that info.

Actually, you are right on the random part. It has been announced that it will be first come, first serve for 2019, thanks for the correction.

The timeline is correct, as that part was updated a week ago. Cheers!
