You should be referred to physio through your family doctor/GP.
Average wait time is reduced these days as there are many many new hirings in the department.
Although physiotherapy is technically covered for refugees there are no longer many places that will accept refugee patients due to reimbursements levels. Many treatments aren't covered like dental, vision, physiotherapy, medication for average Canadians. Refugees get more care than most Canadians. You are usually only able to get physio covered if you are in the hospital. I would loo online for exercises.
They only recently have been hiring people. Cases from irregular border crossings are being processed more quickly because there are concerned that many will not qualify for asylum. There are many who are still waiting 20+ months.
I don’t have a family doctor yet. I went to walk in clinic and the doctor did not referred me to the physio. He just told to me to find any one by myself.
That is because they are almost all private clinics so you only need a referral if you are claiming the cost of the appointment on your extended health benefits through your job. After a bit of googling you can follow these links. I am assuming you live in Ontario. Getting physio still might be very challenging and there is likely to be a waitlist but this is your best bet. I would call and find out if you can get an appointment and when before booking another GP appointment. Also ask how many appointments per year you are entitled to. It is always a good idea to go to the doctor for more than just a physiotherapy referral if possible.

No the issue is that publicly funded physiotherapy is quite rare and very limited. Many people either go without or pay out of pocket. You have only recently come to Canada and will find that many health-related things are not covered by the government. Asylum seekers have access to many things that other Canadians must pay for themselves like basic dental care, medication, vision care, etc.
First When I came I don’t now how to get a family doctor I went to the hospital and I asked them how can I register with a family doctor , they adviced me to call a number and they will help me but when I called they told me because I am a refugee claimant I am not eligeble to have a family doctor , how can I know this information is not true?. But I keep search because I know some refugee claimant has a family doctor. The good thing is last week I found ad on a walk in clinic that they have a family doctor who is accept a new familiesI asked them and they said yes I can register but the first appointment will be on Fep.
First of all you shouldn't go to the hospital for basic issues or general questions. The hospital only runs the hospital. You were likely given the number for people who have OHIP to find a family doctor. Given that you don't have OHIP they couldn't help you. If you have any questions I would reach out or email a refugee organization. You can call around or go to various family doctor offices and ask if they are taking new patients. Ask another doctor if they know a doctor taking new patients. That's how most people find a new family doctor. A first appointment with a GP is billed differently and is slightly longer so an appointment in February if not unusual especially if you don't have an emergent issue. I would encourage all new immigrants and refugees to look up what is covered by their provincial healthcare plan. Because Canada is often compare to the US so many people are under the false impression that the Canadian healthcare system covers everything and is as generous as many European programs. There are many Canadians who can't afford their prescription medication, dental care or new glasses.
Reduced for new cases, old cases may wait for years and years and just more years.
They haven't hired a ton more people. The hiring is in process and continuing. It is mostly due to the election year and the attitude surrounding irregular crossers. They could use a lot more people processing asylum seekers but it isn't a huge priority. Deporting the people who don't qualify is the big priority so expect to hear about deportations. Many who are getting processed faster have likely walked across the border and don't have grounds for asylum so there is an effort to get them through the system faster. There are also a few applicants still left from the legacy cases. Processing these cases seem to be wrapping up. And yes there are a few cases from 2016/2017 that seem to have gotten stuck in the system.
