you can soft landing and go back within 20 days.....but will need the PR card to come back......when you are traveling, you need a permanent resident (PR) card to prove you’re a PR when you return to Canada......you may arrange with a friend or family member living in Canada t receive your PR card mail and send it you through a registered international courier.

PRs traveling outside Canada who do not have a valid PR card, or who are not carrying it, need to apply for a permanent resident travel document before returning to Canada by commercial vehicle.

Be VERY careful about the quoted PR Card turnaround times! You need to allow a further two or three weeks for the post and courier and even then it is far from guaranteed. Many people have had requests for new photos after two months and many have reported closed to a 3 - 4 month turnaround.

My husband did his short landing late October and returned to Brazil to get everything organized to move permanently to Canada.

He was requested new photos last month, they gave 30 days (to receive the photos) however we are in Brazil and it was in the middle of the holidays, sent it and it is in Canada but not delivered yet and today is the deadline.

Canadá post was in strike for a awhile and it says that might take a while to deliver mails.

Anyone know what happens next? Would they consider the longer time to receive due to holidays and the Canada post strike?

If not, how do I know if another application need to be send to get his PR card?

I am having problems with the issue of my husbands Pr card. Can he apply to PRTD to enter canada?

The issue is that he did his soft landing, came back to Brazil, they requested new photos in the middle of the holidays and they havent received the new photos yet wich is after the deadline of 30 days. So he might need to apply for a PR card again, which will take a while to receive and we are already planning our move to Canada.

So PRTD would be the option?

Yes, he will need a PRTD without the PR card.
