Hi everyone!

i am a Pakistani National currently residing in Sudan for my job. I submitted my application online for temporary visitor visa on 15 June 2016. There was no update from the embassy for 2 months but yesterday on 16 August 2016, i got my letter for biometrics submission. the issue is that the letter has been dated 15 June 2016 and the expiry date for biometics was 16 July 2016. Since there is no visa application center in Sudan, i have to go to another country for this purpose. what i need to ask are 2 questions:-

1. how to get new letter of biometrics as i am not even sure which visa office is handling Sudan. As per website, Rome visa office is responsible but i mailed them and they said my application is being reviewed by ankara office. i contacted them but no response. how to check which visa office is handling temporary visas for Sudan.
2. Can i go to any VAC or is there any specific VAC for Sudan? its easy for me to go to Tanzania so can i go to Tanzania VAC for my biometrics collection.

Please help, i'd be really obliged.
Regards

I would suggest calling the Tanzania VAC.

I'm working on an online application from Malaysia, which is handled in Singapore. However, I will be traveling in NYC during the time I expect to have to submit my passport. I called the NYC VAC and was told I would have no problems submitting my passport to the NYC VAC rather than through my local channels. Don't have to notify anyone - just bring the passport request letter to the NYC VAC. I would think this would be OK for biometrics too.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I submitted my application online for temporary visitor visa on 15 June 2016. There was no update from the embassy for 2 months but yesterday on 16 August 2016, i got my letter for biometrics submission.
That's quite strange as the biometrics request comes in within 24-48 hours

The Cairo visa office is responsible for Sudan TRV applications + you can give your biometrics at either Cairo (Egypt) or Amman (Jordan) VACs.

You could do the following:
1. Send a Case Specific Enquiry asking if a new biometrics request is required (as you must give biometrics within 30 days from the request date)

2. Send an email to the Cairo visa office for Point 1 + asking if you can give your biometrics at the Tanzania VAC

Cheers

Thank you so much for the response. yes it is quite strange as i wasnt even expecting a biometrics request since it is mentioned on the website that officials of countries are exempted from biometrics. i have already initiated CSE but no response so far. i have tried calling & mailing Tanzania VAC, no response. Also i was told by Rome office that ankara office is reviewing my application so i was trying to contact them. if you think its Cairo Visa Office, i'd send them a mail as well. Also kindly see your inbox, i sent you personal message regarding my case.

Hi,

Yes, the Cairo visa office is responsible for TRV applications from Sudan. Like I have suggested earlier, please send an email to the Cairo visa office.

It could take up to 30 days to get a response to a CSE.

As you have applied online, it is entirely possible that your application is being reviewed by the Ankara visa office.... as IRCC can move visa applications to any visa office in its global network

Your application can also take much longer than regular processing due to background checks

Cheers

Thanks Bryanna. I have sent email to Cairo Office regarding my queries and waiting for their response. Meanwhile i want to ask if the biometrics letter received by everyone has any specific VAC mentioned, as my letter says:-
"What you need to do next?

You need to visit a biometric collection service point, such as a Visa Application Centre (VAC), in person to have your fingerprints and photograph taken. If you are in the United Sates, you may go to the closest USCIS Application Support center (ASC) office of the address you provided on your application form.

You can find a complete list of biometric collection service points as well as the hours of operation on the website of Citizenship and Immigration Canada at: Web Link..."

So does this mean i can go to any biometric collection service point out of those mentioned in the link?

Regards

Can we send an email to the visa office if the BIL doesn't come within 24-48 hours? I received a separate letter that asked me to pay for $85 then send the office the proof of payment. I sent the receipt within an hour of receiving the letter. Do I give it a couple of days to wait for the BIL or send them an email right after 48 hours have passed? @Bryanna @scylla

I suggest you wait for about a week max. before you email your visa office

You should have paid the biometric fees along with the visa fees. Applicants from all countries are now required to give their biometrics
Well, I don't know what difference it would have made. The system didn't prompt me to pay the fee after I submitted the application. I am just confused about why I would have to wait for a week vs. 24-48 hours. Is it going to be a problem if I contact them earlier than a week? I only have legal status in my current country of residence (forgot to apply for TRV before I left Canada so I'm stranded in Korea) until March 3rd so I don't know if I can wait for too long to get the BIL. I read your responses in other threads and apparently, the VO won't even start processing my application until the biometrics are received.

It could take up to a week to get the BIL. Normally, BILs are issued within 24-48 hours.

That's right. Processing will not start until you give your biometrics. Also, do keep in mind that IRCC processing times are just estimates. Decisions can be given very quickly or could take longer.

You have legal status in Korea for another two months. That's quite a long time. You will likely get a decision well before that. So, don't worry
