Hey @cansha what do you think about SS for folks in Montreal. Is it possible that after 6months of file being in Montreal either at RR or RP stage, it can still be sent for SS?
I can't imagine that after this 6 months or more of this horrendous wait files can still be sent for SS which takes about a year or more
See technically it is possible. Because most cases who are waiting is because no action has been taken on security in the first place.

Also, as I said in a previous post it is an urban myth propagated here that security takes time and multiple agencies are involved. Well, I think that is true only for a fraction of cases where CBSA is involved. Most of these may be pre SS or SS cases.

I think in most other cases they just run your name, DOB etc,. in some security systems / databases and if there is no hit they just go ahead and clear it at once. Now, let's say your name is same as one of the person on most wanted list then yes it will trigger some additional checks and they will involve some additional agencies just to rule things out.

Again, this is my assumption and I can't prove any of this. But I think it would be entirely ridiculous to put all their security agencies resources in validating each and every person applying. It will require a lot of resources to do that and hence I think they may be following much more pragmatic approach.

Hence for most of the folks security is a matter of few hours to 1/2 days IF and ONLY IF an officer actually does the favor of picking up the file and running your name through some databases.

We were all shocked and I remember saying that day that with Montreal you can not even be so sure till COPR or even after landing:mad::confused:
Not sure what spooked them in his profile. Unless he is willing to share difficult to know. May be there is something quirky in his application.

Thanks Man. You are even doing way more by answering questions and making sure this thread goes on.
Ha ha thanks man. Trust me the reasons are more selfish. It's just a way for me to keep my frustrations at bay. Need some sort of medium to release. So I spend time on this forum.

I support your theory actually. I remember @phaneeswar130 case. As at the morning of the day he got PPR, agent still told him other assesments have still not started and a few hours after that he got PPR. If security took that long as postulated then how come it took only a few hours. But then again, its possible they didn't update the app online or on what the agents see.
So what is the whole info sharing about if the agents would still run your name for security. Like my gcms shows info sharing with the US(2organizations), new zealand and canada gcms and there was NRT which i suppose its no reportable trace. With these, I wonder what else they do in security. Anyway like you said, run your name against databases.

So by and large, one can not really tell before elligibility is passed that you may be sent to SS. Whew may all of us be cleared soon especially you and other june folks

Hahahahaha its okay. It helps me calm my anxieties too. People deal with anxieties in different ways. Someone on whatsapp today told us he had to delete all groups affiliated with EE because it was getting more anxious. Said he would send me a message if he gets any update on his account. I don't blame him especially with seeing someone from August and October getting PPRs today

So here is my theory on that and again unsubstantiated and pure speculation on my part.

So you are right they do info sharing with 5 eye nations. The NRT is no reportable trace and is based on PCC. Now, it is for criminality and is looking for whether you were convicted or tried for a crime in the past. So, criminality is a simple lookup against police databases.

But, think about it even a person who has no criminal cases can still be on security watch-list. Even if someone has not been charged or convicted they could be security threats and hence that would be a different database. And hence two parts of criminality and security. But, as I said my assumption there is no way they are going to put all the resources to vet each and every individual at a detailed level unless something suspicious pops up.

I see. Makes a lot of sense. But then again PCCs are usually not from those five countries except you have lived at least six months in any of them. So the NRT from the ones you did not live in must have been some sort of search right.
So do you think that if you were a security threat, it would not show up in the info sharing?

Not sure may be looking at some GCMS notes of people with SS may help to see what happens in that case.

So dudes, I passed eligibility after 7 long months and are now sitting in security check for 6 weeks. Is it possible that after 7 months they will still send me to ss which can take more than 1 year?

I hope not. Your GCMS notes should come soon that will give a good indication.
