NOC Code 2173 vs 2174

Hi Experts,

What should be selected for NOC code- my job duties fall both in 2173 and 2174, my current job title is Software Developer. So shall I use 2174 and go with Software Developer or use Software Engineer and 2173 for primary NOC as this has been my first Job NOC after bachelors?

Just to add -most of my experience has been in Software Developer that is 2174 but since my initial job title was Software Engineer so I am confused.

So you were a Software Engineer first, and then your title changed to Software Developer?
Thats unusual as generally an Engineer title usually has more responsibilities than a Developer. Anyway, doesn't matter, I'd choose the one where you have the most experience with (the one you've held the longest).

I was in the same confusion, but i went for 2174 even though my job title states software engineer because the job description of 2174 is more relevant to my work experience as compared to 2173 (which also has infrastructure and os level tasks as well). Since i have been a developing software code and working on database queries all my career, i went for 2174.

Because eventually ur work experience letter which will specify the things u have carried out will be compared to th job description in the NOC. So decide based on that instead of the job title
