Proof of language - IELTS

Good day people,

I hope some of you could clarify this for me, I am currently awaiting an invitation to take the citizenship test, and I have a slight concern regarding the proof of language requirement, I heard from a friend who passed her test recently, that the officer might require an original of a proof of language, which she did not have with herself, and with a bit disappointment due to the absence of the original of her test results, the officer was still able to make a positive decision on her case.

Now here is my situation, I passed CELPIP back in 2013 for my PR, the original results came to me sealed in an envelope which I sent to CIC. When time was right to gather documents for my citizenship application, the only applicable English test results that I could find was a copy of my IELTS test dating back from 2011, that I passed in Ukraine. I believe that the original of that test I sent to Quebec for my work visa application.

Having read previously that there is no restriction on dating of the test taken, I sent a copy of my old IELTS test results to CIC with my application. They've accepted it, and since October 2nd it is shown to be "in process".

So now, my question is - Do you think it will be enough for a positive decision on my case to explain why I do not posses an original of an IELTS test that I sent with my citizenship application ?

By the way - both of tests results scored very high, and I've basically spoke fluent English since 2010.

Thanks in advance for your help ! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all !

Elias

Ideally you would need the original . However it really depends on the case officer. In my case they did not ask for the originals although I had them . I think they just evaluate your language during the interview and then decide to ask for originals .
Your have two options .Ask your original IELTS test centre for a duplicate copy. Else take your chances and explain it to the case officer. If they insist on the original, you can get it from the test centre .

They do not require original if that is with CIC like in most cases people submit for PR and later a copy of ielts during their citizenship application. But in ur cass if you cannot find CELPIP which u used for ur PR you will need to get original of ielts oor equivalent

Thanks guys, the thing is that I cannot request an additional original of both IELTS and CELPIP, because they only do this for about 2 years after you've taken the original test. I assume they want to make more money by people taking these tests again and again, which is ridiculous taking into account that I passed both with high score, and I clearly am speaking fluent English. I guess I'll have to take my chances, and try to explain my situation...

1. No proof of language, no citizenship, application will be returned. Take CELPIP or IELTS Speaking and Listening modules.

"If you are 18 to 54 years old, you must submit proof that demonstrates you can speak and listen in English or French at this level. Find out what examples you can send with your application."

I sent proof of language, my IELTS results from 2011. My application has been received and is currently "in process" . Problem is that I do not have an original for that IELTS test, only a copy. My CELPIP test original was sent to CIC with my PR application back in 2013. Plus heard 1st account reports that people who came without the original of the test to the interview, were still given citizenship, since they clearly spoke the language during the interview. It's a bit of a gamble, I suppose.

Hi,
don't bother, you'll see at the interview after the test if your officer accepts or not your IELTS copy. I personally think you'll be ok. If not, the officer will tell you what else to provide.
