I have finally received the citizenship ceremony oath invitation for January 16th, 2019. I am returning on January 31 from vacation and a very big family get together. I have come to this situation to pay around $3000 to change the flights and return on January 14th so we can go to the citizenship ceremony. We bought the tickets in summer and we can show it is a family gathering with my mom who is aging. So should I come as planned on January 31 and reschedule? Or do I change the seats and come before the oath and no need to reschedule? Any past experiences of rescheduling.

I would say come and take your Oath if you can afford to pay $3000. The next ceremony might be in 4-6 months with the amount of time its taking some people.

Application:Dec 29 2017
Exam:Nov 1 2018
Oath: Jan 8 2019 in Mississauga
Question: during the interview they told me I can only bring one guest and I have 4 guests who want to come, if I bring them do you guys think they will not be accommodated or should I just bring 1 guest?

I am in the same boat where we've scheduled a big event on the day of Oath ceremony but I'll give preference to the ceremony because this thing is important. Will just eat-up the financial loss
Yes that makes sense. I am also changing my trip. All the best!
