Hi Guys,

I am not sure if its the right place to ask this question. I am currently a PR and have an Indian passport. I and my wife are currently separated and we will be getting our divorce sometime later next year.

My passport expires this month, I was wondering if its mandatory to include her name as my spouse on the passport or is it optional. I didn't have her name on my current passport so was wondering what's the right way to go about it.

Is it ok to do the renewal application without including any of her details? or do I need to include her name in the passport? and then remove them next year when we get the divorce certificate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It is not mandatory to include your spouse's name in your new passport.

However, if her name was previously included in your current passport then you would need to give an application/request + a court certified copy of your divorce decree to have her name removed.

Not sure if it will work if you simply do not include her name in the new application. Do speak with the passport authorities before you apply
