Medical inadmissibility rules changes

Don't want to scare you but they should have started using the new thresholds immediately in June so you would think you would have been assessed by the new threshold. Given your child's unique situation there could be more research being one because I would have though you would have heard by now.

My understanding is that once IME is completed and cmau adjudicates medical results based on IRPR subsection R1, the case is forwarded to the designated officers to apply new criteria.

Not sure if I am over-reading or misinterpreting this.

"Once an IME is completed, officers delegated to overcome an excessive demand inadmissibility finding, through the consideration and application of the public policy and under the authority of section A25.2, may grant an exemption from paragraph A38(1)(c) (medical inadmissibility due to excessive demand on health services and on social services) to the foreign national"

it is her active treatment still with chemos, herceptin, scans, injections etc . Plz stop spreading negativity all the time. I don't mean any offence but I have noticed right from the beginning of this thread u always had something negative to say about everything and most of the times u don't even know your facts!! As a Canadian I find it incredibly disturbing that your mother's care could cost 25-40K/year depending on many variables and still get approved. Although I am hopeful she does well there are no guarantees of remission or that there won't be a recurrence so how can a 5 year cost analysis be done while in the midst of treatment?

Just to update on my case (aor July 18) - I ordered gcms notes and noticed that cmau(centralized medical admissibility unit) has flagged our case as M5 (too much cost).

As per the program delivery update (published on June 1) for the new thresholds, I see that after cmau processing the file will be moved to "delegated officers" to apply the new thresholds and health/social services criteria to see if we overcome inadmissibility based on the new changes.

I almost lost hope after seeing M5 in my gcms notes. Nevertheless, hanging on to a thin thread and hoping against hope for some respite from the new rules.

I am in exactly the same situation as you. My application (May AOR) is also flagged as M5 at CMAU (as of Oct). It is still under process though, probably in 'delegated officers' hands now. However, coincidentally, my doc has agreed to reduce the dosage from twice per month to once per month. So, effectively, my drug cost is half now. It was 20,800 before and now 10,400 + misc. I did update the new prescription + doctor's report via the panel doctor. Keeping fingers crossed! I do think that under the new mandate, my application should not have been flagged at all. I am not sure though, just reasoning.

So is there any problem with my medical result? Will IRCC change the medical decision in the future?

Are you applying through EE? I have not heard of status showing just 3 lines. Maybe be other members can share their inputs here.

I am applying through PNP. My immigration agent's account shows "You passed medical exams."
Today, the "online tool" also shows "Medical results have been received."

For sure, government has already used the new threshold to calculate medical costs.

Once the file has been transferred to CMAU. Do you know how long it takes before medical status change on file.

Hi.. I'm not sure what the medical condition is so I can't comment on that. But as per new rules over a period of 5 years the quota is approx 99K, which makes it almost neglible for people to get refusals based on medical grounds. My mom's medical was under review for 4 months and a few days and then she passed her medical just few days ago. Her treatment for cancer is still going on and she has a treatment plan for next few years. We calculated the cost and for the first and second year it was exceeding way beyond the 20k limit(one year limit). But over a period of 5 years it was less than 99k. Keep faith everything will happen for the best. Sending you good wishes and prayers <3

Hi Doylia.. hope you are well . Could you share please what kind of cancer your mom had? I can relate my mom’s situation with you. My mom’s application still in process while she was diagnosed with breast cancer and she had done her surgery, radiation now on hormonal therapy. She needs to follow with her oncologist. My mom got cancer remission for 5 to 10 years ( still needs to follow up) and I have been paying every cost of her treatment from my own pocket. I was thinking how cic would ask her for medical examination if she gets her approval. It will be really helpful if you share your experience. Hope your mother is doing well .Thanks in advanced

After updating the new prescription through the panel physician how do we get to know that IRCC has received it?

Does the status of the application change to reflect new document being uploaded or do we just need to take the panel doctor's word for it?

Also, is it preferable to also raise a CSE ticket and upload the new prescription here as well?

Hi, I just took the panel doctor's word for it. My specialist faxed the new prescription to her and I went to her office to personally to confirm that the new document was uploaded. My profile does not reflect anything. I am waiting for my GCMS notes to ascertain that. You can upload the prescription on your profile directly using the web form but I have not done that yet. Some more urgent personal issues came up, but I will do that once I see my GCMS notes.
