Hi
In My Opinion, your previous Masters and that of your recent intended Masters are totally different which could be a course/program mismatch

But, you can still use your 7yrs work experience as a powerful weapon because the VOs are looking for either a student go for a program that matches/relates with their previous studies or their work experience

SOP is a bridge between getting accepted or refused because it relates your thoughts on your behalf to the VOs.. so, trying to start constructing a really good SOP with an actual and good convincing fact about while going for a management course instead of engineering

State your points with brevity and make you paint a very clear picture for the VO to buy into your reasons for switching fields
Hi John, I am also confused on this front as I completed B. Tech in 2008 and since then I have been working in the same field. NOW can I apply for MBA in Canada and how about the chances for Visa Aporoval

Hey! I was in a similar situation as yours, I had a 8 years gap between the time I completed my bachelors and application for the Canadian student visa. I remember making a strong SOP showing strong ties to my home country and wanting to utilize the skills from my course to advance my career back home. My visa was promptly approved!

That shouldn't be a problem but you have to convince the VO on your 10yrs of study gap strongly, you can fill it with your work experience. Your chances are good if you also have a good previous academic profile and also if your intended application documents are impressive and complete

You have to write a pretty good, strong, and convincing SOP, this is the bridge of all bridges

I guess you are confusing me with another member :D
That's ok. Lol
I applied for a two years course since I wanted a 3 years work permit. Glad to help if you need any further information!
I have more than 7 years of work experience and the course which I chose is completely related to my experience.

But I am very much worried about the visa?

Kindly guide me, will appreciate your reply.

Hey Ankit!

There are a lot of older people from South America and Caribbean who come to Canada to study. Most of them are over 40. They come here along with their spouse who get a open work permit. We even had a gentleman from Brazil who was 56 years old in our class!

I hope you have made a strong SOP and show strong ties to India. Keep your fingers crossed. I am sure you will be approved :)

Cheers!

Guptaji,

Although I am not an expert in writing SOP, here are a few pointers that I had used and I think may be helpful for you:

- Start with a brief introduction of your academic background as well as work experience in the first paragraph

- Give a short progression of your professional growth. Also explain your roles & responsibilities, highlight achievements if any.

- Why you are considering to pursue further education at this stage of your life. Also why have you chosen to study in Canada and the college that you have applied.

- Explain how the program is relevant to your previous work experience and how it will help you to progress in your profession. You can write about a few courses that you will take in the program and connect it with your past work experience/future goals

- Goals after you complete the program, make sure your goals are in sync to the work experience. Write about the career prospects that you will have in India post the completion of the course

Trust this helps! Cheers! :)

Thanks for your motivated reply. This enhance my confidence.

I have one more query.

Would the chances of getting visa is more in universities than colleges? Like I have one offer letter from a college for Post-Degree Diploma and other one from Post-Degree Certificate course from university.

I like the college course owing to its duration of two years and more importantly its curriculum but my heart and mind is forcing me towards university program.

Please reply

Hello,
I have a question which is concerning me all the time. I have applied for admission in Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering in Canadian University. I hope that I will get the admission letter from this university, but currently I am unemployed and I have about 2.5 years past work experience. Do Canadian Visa office really concern about my unemployment? What are the chances that they raise this issue?? My age is 23 years, and I have done my bachelor's in 2013.

Thank you.
I am in the same dilemma. I have an experience of around 5 years and want to go to Canada to pursue MBA Marketing. My experience is in the same field as well. However, I am currently unemployed. Will it create a problem in getting Canadian student visa?

Hi @Johnsnow 007

Please let me know what you think of my case as well. I am 24 years now and from India. I completed my Bachelor's in mechanical engineering in August 2016 and started working in a core mechanical company form november 2016 to date. I am planning on going in for the September 2019 intake. Thinking of resigning by January 2019. Will this unemployed period from January 2019 to September 2019 give me any trouble in getting my study visa approved?

Its best advised you don't resign. Your current work/employment can serve as an economic home tie outside your family which is social home tie. With you gainfully employed while you apply gives more merits to your application than staying unemployed
