Hi all,
I am planning to go for masters in business or finance to Canada.
I have realised that there are community colleges and universities. I wanted to know what is the difference between both and which you should opt for ....
Thanks
You can only study masters in universities.
Universities mostly have only degree courses. Both bachelors and Masters , PhD etc are available in universities. Admission is tough however your visa process will be easier due to that.
You then have colleges that are polytechnic. Some of them are mentioned in the name while others are not.
Regardless of being polytechnic or not colleges offer certificates, diplomas, and bachelor degrees.
Universities tend to be focused more on theory while colleges tend to be more on the practical side of things. Colleges tend to offer co-op programs which give work experience.
universities tend to have a better reputation compared to college. Many people see colleges, especially certificate courses to be mostly of people trying to get PR via studying in college as it is cheaper than universities.
Ultimately what you choose depends on your individual circumstance. I already have a university degree and studying a masters in my field is of no use so I am taking a Certificate course to Boost my existing degree and I have a co-op option as well. It is also far cheaper than a MBA for which I have to sit for GMAT.
