I got admission in a private college . Is it possible to get loan and study permit?. Can I work part time while doing my course? I thought I could change to public college after 3-4 months is it possible? While doing a course in private college, can I do other certificate courses around canada?

I can answer a few of these questions. Yes you can get study permit but you will not qualify for PGWP which is a work permit after graduation if you go to a private college hence avoid it. Loan depends on the your country of residence. Canada does not provide loan to international students as far as i know. Yes you can work part time for up to 20 hours off campus. Yes, you can transfer to a public college if you meet the requirements of that college. All you have to do is change the DLi number on the online portal once you transfer.

Thank you so much for your kind reply !!! If I change to public college after few months can I get PGWP !!!
Yes you can, but only for the time you have spent at the public college. Your time at the private one wont be considered.

Oh okay !!! Thank you so much
I would like to add that it's not a strict rule that private colleges don't give PGWP but those that do are very limited. You can google DLI Canada list and you should get a canada.ca site that will tell you exactly if a private college has DLI and if it has PGWP eligible programs.

For example. Alexander college in Vancouver which is a private college does offer PGWP programs but it is limited to only 2 courses

You are eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) if you complete one of the degrees below and you meet all other PGWP criteria:

  • Associate of Arts
  • Associate of Science
You are not eligible if you complete any other program at this school.

So in this case, if you were doing the above two degrees then you will get PGWP but any other course then you're out of luck.

To your other question, you cannot do 2 programs at the same time and neither will you be able to handle the workload if you were able to. I would honestly suggest that you try to apply for a public college/private college from your own country that you really want to attend rather than doing this kind of work around as you have the potential to lose a lot of money if the college refuses to refund you the money and unnecessarily wasting time and money doing a course that won't get you a PGWP.
