I recently got an ITA. I was thinking of taking a vacation to my home country, India, to see family. I am currently resident in the US on a work visa.
If I apply for an Indian PCC from the consulate right now (takes about a month to be issued), will it be invalidated by my visit to India in 30 days?
IRCC seems to say PCCs are valid indefinitely after the last time you lived in a country. I haven't lived in India for many years and this would be just a short vacation, so technically the PCC shouldn't be invalidated, but there are many threads on this forum that say that even visiting your home country for a brief period invalidates the PCC.
Does anyone have a definitive answer on travel to home country pre-AOR and the validity of the PCC?
I will not have time before the the 60 day ITA deadline to get a fresh PCC from the consulate after my return from India to the US, but I suppose I can apply for another PCC upon my return and include that application in a LOE and then upload the PCC when I get it (after submission of the application) as CSE.
Alternatively, I am considering getting a PCC while I am in India, but I am not sure this will be acceptable as the issue date would be before my departure from the country (unless I apply on the last day of my stay and they happen to generate it after I've left, which seems unlikely from what I've read about same day turnaround).
Any and all thoughts appreciated. I tried calling IRCC/CIC but couldn't speak to anyone due to high call volume.
