Were they all generic questions? ThanksPassport office contacted my guarantor and another two referees...
I have actually picked up my passport on the same day!Congratulations! Good to know about the quick update on passport Canada database. I will keep my application ready and submit as soon as they update the ECAS
Question for guarantor:Were they all generic questions? Thanks
This is helpful. Thank youQuestion for guarantor:
How many years you have known him
Describe the applicant
Questions for referee:
How do you looks like
Descriptive on the face
Hope this helps
1. If you bring your application to the passport office, you can come with the originals and they will be returned to you immediately.Few questions while working on my passport application:
1. Documents to support identity - I am providing drivers licence and OHIP card. Do I need to give them the originals? There is an option to provide originals. So do I show them and take them back or will they given them back to me along with the passport?
2.Previous Canadian travel document - what do I show for this?
3. Declaration of guarantor? - does the guarantor need to write by hand in this section?
4.I was planning to get the guarantor's signature and get the application ready so that as soon I get the citizenship details updated I can go and apply for the passport. But I notice that I need to input the citizenship certificate number on the passport application. Can I write it with pen later or do I need to get the guarantor's signature only after I become the citizen? Since I will applying for urgent processing of the application, this might delay my process.
Appreciate a response based on your experience.
Thanks

Thank you. This is helpful.1. If you bring your application to the passport office, you can come with the originals and they will be returned to you immediately.
2. Nothing if it is your first passport
3. Yes i think it is specifically written on the application
4. I guess no problem. Normally the guarantor need to fill his part after you filled yours, but they probably can’t check.
Thanks. Question 4 - where citizenship certificate number has to be filled in..that's where I was wondering whether I can fill it by hand. My application is ready except for the certificate number which I will get only after the oath on Dec 5th.Points 3 and 4
The guarantor has to fill their part and sign.
You can also travel on ur old passport upto 90 days after oath ceremony anywhere under that passport limits ( Visa requirements ). Just use your old passport to travel to US under same conditions if you traveled earlier too.Hi
I have the oath ceremony on 5th Dec and I have to travel on work to the US on 8th Dec. My tickets are already booked. Is there an option to request for an express passport to get in a day? I understand we need to wait 48 hours after the oath to apply for Canadian passport. That leaves me only a day before my travel. Any suggestions? Anyone has experience of obtaining passport in a day? Thank you
Good to know. I was not aware of this. But I understand PR card will be surrendered at the time of citizenship ceremony so do I need to carry the citizenship certificate while travelling? If you are travelling by road just show them your COPR and they allow you entry but as if you are flying to US they might see your COPR & Citizenship Certificate . They will keep your PR Card @ Ceremony but will give you COPR that you can show to CBSA officer .Good to know. I was not aware of this. By road I think that you should be fine too. However by air you might need to double check this. Normally, once you are Canadian, you need a valid Canadian passport to enter Canada by air.If you are travelling by road just show them your COPR and they allow you entry but as if you are flying to US they might see your COPR & Citizenship Certificate . Same here, I'm in a bit of a planning phase with oath coming up, had the same questions about passport app. The person I will use as guarantor is going on vacation soon, so I'll have to get him to fill out his part before hand, then the certificate # by hand after oath. My two refs will hopefully be in town also. December being holiday season, people are generally out of the country or traveling somewhere, what happens if they cannot reach a guarantor or reference? Does that delay things, or cause any complications? Thanks. Question 4 - where citizenship certificate number has to be filled in..that's where I was wondering whether I can fill it by hand.
