Hi Friends,
My wife and I are currently permanent residents in Canada. My mother came to visit us in May-2018 and she was supposed to go back in October-2018, upon completion of her 6 months but we applied for her extension and till Jan-2019 and got it approved. However, situation changed now and we would like her to stay with us for longer now. Below are the options I am considering and the associated questions. Thanks in advance for your patience & inputs.

1) Apply visa extension for the second time: if so, what are the chances it will get approved and for how many more months? will she get it for another 6 months?

2) Travel to India before Jan and come back in Feb: If she goes to India and come back immediately, would it be treated as taking advantage of the Visitors visa? will she get stamped for 6 months up on re-entry or less than that because of the frequent travels?

3)Travel to India before Jan and apply super-visa from India: if she applies super visa from India, will it be rejected because she already has a visitors visa? if her super visa gets rejected, will her visitors visa becomes void too? if her super-visa gets approved, will they consider the medicals she took while getting her visitors visa extended (from October - 2018 to Jan -2019 as mentioned above) or she needs to submit medicals again? suppose if the super-visa gets approved and when she travels back to Canada (say in April/May -2019) will she get the passport stamped to stay in Canada for 2 years or only 6 months max as she had traveled to Canada before using visitors visa? Does she have to wait for couple of months before she submits her application for super visa after reaching India or she can submit as soon as possible?

Hi

1. Provided she can show sufficient proof of funds, chances are alright. No one can say how long it would be approved for.

2. CBSA will see that for what it is: a border run. She might get 6 months, she might get less or she might be refused entry.

3. A supervisa would not be rejected based on already having a TRV. The TRV will remain valid even if the supervisa is refused. Yes, she can use the same medical. No one can say how long she would be given.

Hi.. Thanks for the reply.. So super-visa doesn't guarantee 2 year stay? is it determined at the port of entry?

Regardless of the visa, length of stay is always decided by CBSA upon entry.
