Hi, husband here living in Canada and wife still overseas, I sent a sponsorship application by letter to Sydney-NS for outland sponsorship that includes the fees payment and also the to forms for representations. It’s been a month and half now and nothing.

  1. I tried to call by phone but busy, that was early in the morning too.
  2. Is that normal that it’s taking so long ? I’ve read somewhere that since they changed from Mississauga to Sydney there is some change in the processing. What does everyone know about IRCC confirming reception (AOR1?), other than cases of more than 2,3,4 months, is there some recent applicants who received acknowledgment in decent time, like a month or under? Canada Post said that my application was received in their office on October 1st, we’re Nov-15 today.
  3. How will they contact me? I’m guessing that’ll be just me, not my wife, because we filled the representation forms? Will they email me (us) to the email address I (we) put on the forms, or will they send a letter by courier, knowing that Canada post is on strike and that could have been the problem of the delay ?

Thanks in advance.

It's normal that it's taking this long, yes.

We know Some people who applied a year or few months beofe us and it took them 6 months from start to finish, same situation and condition as ours.
Do you think with the processing centre change that’ll change the total time as well? If the AOR1 is not received in before « months » then possibly the whole sponsorship could go way over 6 months!

Comparing your application to others is an exercise in futility. It means nothing and has no bearing on how long the process will take for you. It's entirely dependent on the visa office and officer processing your case.

The target is 12 months for processing. It may be faster, but anything less than 12 months should be taken as a pleasant surprise.

If you put an email on your forms they will use the email.

Two to three months is not unheard of for AOR. Enjoy some tea.
