Hi All..

I'm in a similar situation. I have been waiting for my PR card and have not received yet. I need to urgently travel to India for my brother wedding and get my dependents to Canada and get their landing completed.

Can I apply for the PRTD from India without any issues? It has been only 90 days that i became a PR.

Does residency obligation applies to me? Do i need to provide any supporting document for it?

Please kindly help to advise here.

Thanks.

Hi Canuck,
Yes i went through the forum. But not really sure if any supporting document is to be provided for residency obligation or not. What is supposed to be answered in the forms and if supporting documents are to be provided.

A copy of your CoPR should be submitted with the PR TD. On its face this document shows a relatively new PR's compliance with the PR Residency Obligation.

Residence and travel history should still be provided, as specified in the form and instructions, but since the CoPR documents the date of landing, reference to a calendar definitively proves the new PR is in compliance.

Indeed, the CoPR shows a PR's compliance with the RO UNTIL the third year anniversary of the day the PR landed (that is, until the 3rd year anniversary of landing a PR is definitely in compliance no matter how many days present or absent, since there are still at least 730 more days left until the fifth year anniversary). However, obviously, cutting-it-that-close, or anywhere near that close, is RISKY enough to be a bad idea . . . but for at least the first couple years after landing, a copy of the CoPR sufficiently documents compliance with the PR RO.

I wanted to know what and why should i prove residency obligation if I landed in Canada and went back to finish my term of work in US ?

The residency obligations options provided in CIC website , none fits my case. My company is a US based company and I came back after landing to finish the remaining work and service notice . What documents should I seek from my company in this case.

I dont need to know for supporting documents but specifically for residency obligation what doc should I seek from my company for some one who stayed only few days in Canada after landing .

Thank You

Hello,
Can you share your experience on this.
Even I am in a similar situation and received a letter to prove residency obligation even when I completed landing few months back.
Probably that's for the personal handover of PR card.
Still, I am confused, can you please share your insights.
