Hi
Have you ever done EOR after your previous results?

If yes, please share that details?

Cos I am in the same situation, have done three attempts. this is my fourth attempt. My score is LRWS-8.5/7.5/6.5/7 , I am quite confident about my writing, as I have scored 7 in writing few times before.Thinking to go for re-valuation, your thoughts on this?

Venue details: Chennai BC
Hi ,

Nope.. i did not give for EoR before. this was my first shot at it. i was skeptical. To be honest, i did the writing (in all my attempts), exactly the same way i did in this attempt. If this saw a change, i am sure i would have cleared it earlier, had i given it for EoR.

Well, in my opinion, if you have followed the writing structure as required and you are confident on your task achievement, just go for it, without hesitation ( Its hit or a miss ), & looking at your other scores, i think it should be positive.

Hope this helps! All the best!

Yes, I am confident about my writing but the problem is that it was a computer delivered test, and I am yet to see anyone getting a positive EOR in Computer delivered test.
Lets hope for the best. :D
Did you get your result? Actually, I have also applied for the revaluation of computerized writing attempt.

Hi, Friends need your suggestion here-

I have applied for revaluation in the writing section(computerized IELTS) My current score is 8.5,8,7.5,6.5.
Even I am not able to crack writing in my 27th October BC attempt. My score is 9,7,7,6.5.

Please answer the below queries-

  • Should I apply for revaluation with BC also?
  • What are odds of getting a positive result in computerized attempt revaluation?
Guys, I need your suggestions here.

Hi friends,

My IELTS journey ends here!

Attempt # : 5
Type : General
Test date : 8th sept 218
Test Centre : Chennai BC
Result date : 21st sept 2018
EoR Application date : 28th sept 2018
EoR Confirmation date : 4th October 2018
EoR Result date : 2nd November 2018
Applied for Writing and Speaking Module

Old LRWS : 8.5 / 7 / 6.5 / 7.5
New LRWS : 8.5 / 7 / 7 / 8

CRS jumped from 418 to 472 ! :)

I was really hopeful on my writing part. But i also felt that my speaking wasn't as bad as i was scored, since i had been scoring an 8+ in all the past attempts. Gave it a shot with speaking too and result was positive.

This was my 5th attempt and my worst nightmare was to get a 7 on the writing module, which i had been missing on every attempt by 0.5.
I was very skeptical about the EoR outcome but thanks to this thread, it gave me a lot of positive vibes about the process & i applied.
REST IS HISTORY! :)

Guys! If you have followed a good writing structure ''proper paragraphing , parapharasing in the intro, each task qualifies to be a separate para and finally concluding with a strong hold on your opinion / answer whatever the objective is", and still if you end up getting a 6.5 or 6, then give it for EoR. Don't think!

Just go for it. ( Not sure for people scoring a 6 & expecting a 1 band increase, becuz i don't think , the markers are that bad in scoring.) Difference of 0.5 is pure subjective error that you can score it back through EoR, IF YOU WERE GOOD with the task.

Good luck with your IELTS journey guys! Be Optimistic! :)
Hi!

Hope you dont mind, can you post here their email they sent when your EOR is available already? I just want to know if they use standard email regardless if your EOR is successful or not. Or the email is different when the EOR is sucessful.

Thanks!

sharing my story. Hope it will inspire people here:
Below are my score in every attempt (L,R,S,W)

1st attempt (7 April 2018):
7,6.5,6,7

2nd attempt (30 June 2018):
7.5,7.5,6.5,7

3rd attempt (2 August 2018):
8,8.5,7.5,6.5
==> I was quite sure that I wrote essay well. So applied for EOR on 21st August 2018. received my result on 12th September 2018. No change in score. :(

Now, I booked three consecutive slots. I know it was crazy. But I wanted to crack it ASAP. So i had to go beast mode !

4th attempt (29 September 2018):
8,8,6.5,6.5

5th attempt (13 October 2018):
8,8.5,6.5,6.5
==> At this point, I was wondering why such downfall in scores for sections that I did fairly well before.
==> watched some online videos to identify my mistakes. I made several assumptions about my errors. I decided to SPEAK SLOW in speaking. I also decided to change approach in my writing. I decided to write one paragraph for each of the three points in letter. Besides that, I also decided to write one paragraph for the point that i don't agree with, and one paragraph fully dedicated to the point that I am agree with.
==> didnt waste money for EOR this time.

6th attempt (27 October 2018):
8.5,7.5,7.5,7
==> finally ! :)

CRS score jumped from 417 to 475..

Key takeaways from this journey:

1. EOR might not work if you are over-confident and overlook your mistakes.
2. Speak slow in speaking section. Otherwise, they will assume that you might have memorized it.
3. Avoid unnecessary linking devices in writing. Maintain coherence. Discuss both sides.
