Hi guys! Just joined this thread because I applied for my husband's sponsorship in August, around the same time as all of you. I read all of your posts and it's super encouraging to know that we are not alone in this process! Here's our story and our timeline:

My husband is from Turkey and I am a Canadian citizen. My husband was initially here on a student visa that was expiring on August 14, 2018. We got married on July 31, 2018 and then went to Las Vegas for a mini honeymoon from August 3-7, 2018. When we came back from Vegas at the Canadian border, we asked if my husband could obtain a Visitor's Permit so that when his student visa expired, he'd have an official document instead of just the "implied status". We spoke with 4 people at the border and when we finally got to the last Immigration Officer, she was so kind! We were really lucky because they gave us an official document, that of a Visitor's Permit that expires in February 2019. This would give us ample time to apply for my husband's work permit and permanent residency. They also wrote on the permit that it's purpose was for a status during the sponsorship application!

Below is our timeline:
I applied for PR and OWP - CPC MISSISSAUGA
App. sent: Aug. 20, 2018
App. received: Aug. 22, 2018
AOR: Sept. 21, 2018
Sent documents to Quebec government: October 9, 2018
Received confirmation from Quebec government that they would process request/payment: October 19, 2018
Medical Request: Nov. 2, 2018
Medical Exam taken on: Nov. 5, 2018
OWP: Waiting...

Do any of you have any idea what the next step is? We're anxiously awaiting for my husband to be able to work!

Next step for PR app will be an status update with the medical results and then probably review of eligibility and background check after that.
Work permit app is processed apart and independently of PR app flow. The first august applicants are getting OWP approval this week, so you can expect yours by mid-end november, but keep in mind that this is just an average time, it can vary from each person.

Thank you for the warm welcome André, including the tentative timeline. I had gathered that we should get the OPW in the next 3 weeks from this thread and some others I read.

Mine was received on August 14th, and i haven’t received the Medical request either. If you call them, please let me know what they say!

Tried to get a hold of them today but unfortunately I couldn't even into the queue because of how many people were trying to call. Any updates on your end? I still haven't received anything.

So I've been watching our emails like a hawk waiting for an update and there hasnt been any. I just checked my CIC account and there is a medical request on there. So just a heads up to anyone still waiting, to regularly check your account as well as your email!

OWP approved November 9th! August 7 app here.

As another commenter posted, keep checking your GCKEY account as no emails came through about the work permit at all.
