VISA Expired but have valid Work permit. Can i re-enter canada after visiting US

Hi all,
I have traveled to USA by AIR on May 12, 2018 and returned May 17, 2018, without a valid WORK VISA and an expired STUDENT VISA dated March 30, 2018, But holding a Valid Work Permit which I received on December 2017.
So It is clear we can travel to USA without Visa, If one holds a valid work Permit. This scenario only applies to Foreign students.
Make sure to take a printout of article Stating...

Visa exemption — purpose of entry Dispense : objet de l’entrée
(3) A foreign national is exempt from the requirement to
obtain a temporary resident visa if they are seeking to enter
and remain in Canada solely................

(f) to re-enter Canada following a visit solely to the
United States or St. Pierre and Miquelon, if they
(i) held a study permit or a work permit that was issued
before they left Canada on such a visit or were
authorized to enter and remain in Canada as a temporary
resident, and
(ii) return to Canada by the end of the period initially
authorized for their stay or any extension to
it

and carry copies with you to demand verification, any agent who opposes your entry.
So they will consider and call Immigration and let you enter Canada.

FYI : I have also traveled by Road with same documents and funny I haven't carried my wok permit. Just Passport without a valid Visa,
However They have allowed me by checking my passport and warned not to leave Canada without carrying proper documents.
I explained that I forget my documents because I supposed I have student visa valid But it was expired a day before the incident and happened to be excused.

My Canadian VISA will expire in 3 month (Oct 2018) but I have valid work permit till the (Apr 2020).
How I can reapply for new stamping (currently I am in Canada)?

If you leave Canada, you immediately lose implied status. You may or may not be allowed to re-enter, but you would not be able to work anymore until you get your new work permit.

We are ok with not being able to work, as we should have our landing interview soon as well for our inland sponsorship.
Just concerned with being able to re-enter Canada with an expired visa and work permit.

My spouse had work permit and visa till Oct 13th but she had to leave to India on Sep 30th due to an emergency and she is still in India (Visa and WP has expired now). WP extension was applied 3 months back and we expect the results to be out within a week. If the WP extension gets approved in a week's time, can she travel with an expired visa? We can get the stamping for her done here in Canada. Please note that she doesn't have a US visa. Please help at the earliest. Thanks

No, she can't travel to Canada with an expired TRV. She will need to apply for a new one in India.

If yes, with a US visitor visa, can we apply for an eTA and then start travelling once eTA is approved? We plan to do the VISA stamping here in canada.

Still need a TRV to enter Canada even if coming back via land border. An ETA is only for visa exempt passport holders to board a plane for Canada.

Yes, she could travel to the US and back to Canada with an expired TRV. However, she CANNOT go to India in the same trip and then return to Canada from the US without a valid TRV. The exemption for travel with an expired TRV exists solely for travel to the US and St. Pierre and Miquelon.

Not sure why you're mentioning an eTA. Indian citizens do not qualify for eTAs.

There is an exemption for those who travel only to the US or St Pierre and Miquelon. As long as the person has valid unexpired status in Canada, they can return on their expired TRV.

Hello Anad, could you please tell me what happend to you spouse? Did she came back to canada without a renwal TRV by USA. Because i am in same situation here.
I am in india with valid work permit and job but my trv expried and i have a valid usa vistor visa. Please let me know. Thanks
