Query about India and the US PCC

Hello all,
I'm utterly confused because of certain issues associated with me and my wife's PR process. We have received the ITA and we both are Indian and are currently in the US. She was on a student visa that has expired as she is done with her course and training. I'm on a work visa. We'll be traveling to India in December to get her visa transferred to dependent visa. So effectively, the day we leave the US she won't be a US resident anymore.

So once we land in India can she get her India PCC done in India at a local PSK since she would be a resident of India then?

If that holds true then would she have to do her FBI PCC after coming back to the US or would her existing FBI PCC work fine (given it'll be less than 6 months old)?

Then my issue is that if I'm traveling to India post ITA and before submitting the application then do I have to get my PCC both India and US after coming back?

I'd really appreciate some prompt help as I'm pretty confused by all these questions.

Thanks

Why not keep things simple and apply your PCC when you both come back to US? When you submit your application would your wife be resident of USA or India?

For you things are simple .. PCC for resident countries have to be less than 6 months old. So in your case FBI PCC can be applied now even if you want to submit your application say in December.

For non resident country it is better to have PCC which covers your last visit in the country and hence you need to apply for your Indian PCC after your last visit to India i.e. when you come back to USA.

Both these conditions will be valid for your wife as well. And it appears to me you would be bringing your wife back with you after your trip in December and hence I will come back to previous question as I asked before. Why not keep things simple?

Yep that's right. We'll be coming back together. The only reason why I can't keep it simple is my ITA submission deadline. We'll be back by 25th dand our deadline is 29th December. While we could wait to be back and submit the application in those 4 days but getting a PCC would be impossible. Probably the last resort is to decline. I was really hoping to see if someone was able to work it out with such a situation. Thanks

Are you in the same city as the consulate? Will you be to go to Indian consulate personally?

No I would have to drive 4.5 hours to reach DC (that's the consulate where my state's jurisdiction lies). Yes I was planning on going there personally with my wife but just wanted to know if a trip after that to India would make it void. Thanks

I would suggest to make the trip before India trip if possible. Basically, they will look up your information in their "system". If your information is present they can issue your PCC right there. Now in case both of your information is in the system then you can be assured of the PCC same day. If that's the case your problem is solved. You can come back from India and apply for PCC. In some cases they do refer your cases to India. So, ideally avoid that situation.
