Processing time for online study permit from USA

Hi Guys I applied for student visa from USA.
I submitted an online application on 17th Mar.

i applied online on mar17th.
Got response requesting for my passport on APR18th.
Passport received by VAC on 21th APR and got a tracking number.
Waiting for my passport currently. Hoping i will have it in a week.

I applied for centennial.
i am not exactly sure on what all i sent but these are the list of documents i remembered.
passport copy
proof of funds - i got bank statement of my savings
Letter of Explanation
and immigration forms which you would need to download and fill
(IMMI1294E IMMI5257B_1 IMM5739_1-ASJS98T)


Once you start online application it will prompt you for the list of documents you need to attach and upload .

Hi Guys,
I applied for my study permit on May 7th 2018 from the US , and still waiting for a response. I read that some of you got the update from IRCC exaclty a month later. So, is this the usual case ? I applied online, and I guess my application went to LA consulate, since I live in California. Is the time to respond really depend on the consulate location ? Or is it usually around 5-6 weeks ? FYI -I have submitted all the documents.

Hi @ramkk When did you get the response from VISA consulate? I applied for VISA on 2nd Nov 2018. How long it might take. I too applied for Study permit.

@ritvick I applied on May 7th and I got my visa on June 10th 2018, I think. Exactly 4 weeks (I mean 4 working Business weeks). You should probably get your response within 4 weeks. If you apply from the US it is pretty fast. I guess both LA and NY consulate take the same time. Also,depends on the documents you submit.Which consulate did u apply ?

@ramkk It haven't asked me for consulate selection. I applied online. My I live in Seattle so don't know where my application will go ( should go to LA).

BTW 4 weeks for Visa stamped? When did they ask you to send passport for stamping?

@ritvick I already had a canadian visa , so they just sent me the approved study permit by the end of 4th week. I didn't send my passport, since I already had my visa. For study permit you would require Tourist Visa +Study permit approval letter. You will get stamped only in the Canadian CBP once you land .

Hello all. Thank you for information. I just want to make sure, I have applied study permit October 9 2018 , still waiting. I just want to make sure, should I have tourist visa for study permit ?

If I do not are they going to ask me passport for visa stamped?
