Visitor visa for marriage EU and Guinean nationals

Hi

My partner, Guinea, and I, French, are considering getting married in Quebec next year. I understand that we could both get married there and present documentation in English and French which would make things easier. I will be helping my partner to apply for his visa but I would need advise on a few things which I hope you may be able to help.

1) my partner cannot prove income. This is usually the case in countries where the use of bank accounts is not common. I will be sponsoring/paying for all expenses so I am wondering if the visitor visa application allows for that and how
2) there is an embassy in Guinea but it seems my partner will need to go to Senegal to do the biometrics. At what point will he need to send across his passport? Would he be able to send all paperwork, I assume including passport, and receive any documentation in Conakry?
2) I have looked online for help to arrange a wedding in quebec, as I understand that laws differ frm regions. My problem is most websites are in French so I would like to find a lawyer or specialist in helping with paperwork in the region whom with I can communicate in English

Can your partner prove he has other ties to his country of residence/home country? Employment? Property or land ownership? A lease? Dependent family members?

Travel to other visa-required countries?

Basically, his application must answer two questions:
1. Why does he want to get married in Canada?
2. What reasons will make him to leave Canada after the wedding?

2. Can you prove your relationship?

He can give his biometrics at the VAC in Conakry.

Only when the visa office requests for his passport if he applies online. If he submits a paper application, he must submit his passport too.

He can submit his TRV application in-person at the Conakry VAC + give his biometrics at the same time.

Your partner can include evidence that you have strong ties to return to your country of residence = He must leave Canada as well. IMO, he would need to work very hard to prepare a good, convincing application

He won’t be able to prove any of that. He tried to apply for a visit visa to the uk but got rejected as he wasn’t able to prove income any they also divided his ‘salary’ by 10.000


Basically, his application must answer two questions:
1. Why does he want to get married in Canada?
2. What reasons will make him to leave Canada after the wedding?

Canada allows for gay marriage, Quebec allows for French and English. The reason to leave Canada is to come and join me in the UK. Unfortunately Guinea does penalise homosexuality so we are forced to seek for somewhere welcoming

We can prove the relationship through pictures, common travel, calls and money transfers. Would we have to provide this for a visitor visa?

Not sure why you selected Canada and Quebec but if your partner was refused a UK visa, Canada is usually even more difficult. Unfortunately think your partner will struggle to get a visa to Canada. I would suggest you consider getting married somewhere in Africa like South Africa and then you sponsor your partner to whatever country you are living in in the EU.

IMO, he has an almost zero chance of getting a Canada TRV. Your partner does not have any finances and assets, no previous travel history, etc as some basic requirements to qualify for a TRV approval.

If Guinea penalizes gay relationships then it could also seem like he will claim asylum after he arrives in Canada.


1. Have you met him in person? Interacted with him long enough in-person to collect evidence of a genuine relationship?

2. Have you looked into the requirements for a UK Family Visa (partner intending to enter into a civil relationship, in particular)?

My husband is from Guinea - at the time, boyfriend - was refused the visitor visa on the basis on not having enough proof he'd go back.
You're best chance is to get married and sponsor him.
We are now happily married and am applying for his PR.
I will still re-apply for a visitor's visa since our status has changed. Can't hurt right...
