Hi seniors,

I have a question. My brother and his wife are applying for Express Entry PR. The application submission is getting delayed because of the issues in daughter's birth certificate.

1. Firstly, the birth certificate is written in Punjabi. (For this I believe translation from notary will work) but we don't know what documents to attach to prove true translation.

2. Secondly, the mother's name in child's birth certificate is written as only first name whereas all other documents (including passport) of the daughter have both first and the last name of the mother.

Correction in BC is taking a long time, It's been already one month we applied for it and they say still it will take more time.

We are due to submit PR application in two weeks.

Kindly suggest on the above mentioned issues.

Thanks.

1. From https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/applications-received-on-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html

If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with:

  • the English or French translation; and
  • an affidavit from the person who completed the translations; and
  • a certified photocopy of the original document.
2. I believe you can get a "Same Name Affidavit" made and attach it along with an explantation. Other option is to decline ITA before deadline and get another invite (assuming your CRS score is well above cutoff)

Thank you so much for the information. This is what we are doing as of now. About, declining ITA, that will be the last option as we are trying our best efforts to obtain the corrected birth certificates.
