Fortunately I have collected all the documents for my e-APR and now in the uploading stage.
I am planning to attach an Index sheet before some of the documents, to make the life of the visa officer simpler. For example for my work document, I am planning to attach a INDEX which goes like - PDF Pg1: Reference Letter, PDF Pg 2-5: Offer Letter. PDF Pg 6-9: Salary Slips, PDF Pg 10-11: Service Letter etc etc.

Similarly I am planning to do the same for Proof of Funds and Passport Documents (highlighting which pages have current passport and which have expired).

Is that allowed? Hope I am not doing something that shouldn't be done.. Please advise.

What have been the other best practices followed?

You can do that. It's not needed. It doesn't help or harm your application. So your call.

Don't try to 'make the life of visa officer simpler'. It's not making it simpler. The first thing they want to see is the reference letter and then maybe payslips if needed.
Don't upload multiple passports. Upload only current. The minimal paperwork they have to look through the better.

Seems like some applicants think, Visa officers are not capable enough of handling cases.
