"My friend is currently unmarried and recently opened an EE profile. However, if he gets married within next few months,
1) will he have to withdraw the current profile and open a new one?
Or,
2) he can update the marital status info on the existing application later?
Which is the best option in that case?
Advanced Thanks for your valuable insight.
Just keep the same account/profile, and update to "Married" after getting married.
After adding her, additional questions will become available and will appear, and CRS score will change according to the answers you give. Like:
-Personal information and passport number etc...
-"Is your spouse accompanying"
-Or give listing of spouse's immediate family members.
-List spouse entire travel history, personal activities, address history for the last 10 years, or since the age of 18 whichever comes first.
-etc...
Then, you need to figure out if you're going to claim points for spouse's education, language skills, and if applicable, work experience in Canada.
-If you want to claim points for spouse education, she needs to do an Education Credentials Assessement (ECA).
-If you want to claim points for spouse language skills, she needs to take a language test in one official language, French or English.
Tests for English can be either IELTS (General Training Module) or CELPIP. For French, only one type of test is accepted, the TEF CANADA.
-Once you get close to your application submission date (eAPR), both of you need to undertake an upfront medicals exam made by a panel physician, regardless of whether spouse is accompanying or not.
-If she has work experience in Canada, you can claim points for it, supported by a reference letter by employer. Note that for spouse, unlike for principal applicant, work experience obtained outside Canada cannot be counted towards point count.
That"s the general idea. More info to gather as you move forward in the process.
