CRS vs the old points system (FSW)

I understand now all applications have to submit EE Profile and have to meet the cut off CRS score to get an ITA.

But is the old 67/100 point system still valid? and what is the purpose of it now?

Just wondering...

Thanks,

The main purpose of that is to know if you're eligible. To be eligible, you have to score 67/100 on that scale. But your invitation depends upon your CRS score.

Thanks,
You're mixing up two score scales.
1-The 67/100 minimum eligibility scale (The 6 factor selection criteria)
2-The CRS Score (the Comprehensive Ranking Score)

1-First, you need to be eligible to immigrate to Canada under the FSW program. For that, Canada has implemented 6 selection factors which will give you points on a 100 point scale. To be eligible, you need to have at least 67 points. Here is the link explaining the above:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/federal-skilled-workers/six-selection-factors-federal-skilled-workers.html

2-Second, when you find out you are eligible, you create and fill in an express entry profile and enter the pool with all other eligible candidates. As of Sept 27 2018, there are 91,332 eligible candidates. In the pool, information about you such as work experience, language scores etc... will give you what they call a CRS score ranging from 0 to 1200. Based on your score, you will be ranked among all other candidates in the pool. Every now and then, roughly every two weeks on Wednesdays, a certain number of invitations will be sent out to the highest ranked candidates (for example 3900 in the last draw), and the score of the 3900th ranked candidate will be known as the "cut-off score" (445 in the last draw). If you're above that score, you'll receive an invitation to apply. Here is the link outlining CRS points distribution:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/criteria-comprehensive-ranking-system/grid.html

And here is a link to a calculator to see how many CRS points you could potentially have:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

A link to information about the last draw, and candidate point distribution in the pool a few days before the draw:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations.html

You were mixing up two distinct elements.
-The 6 factor selection criteria
-And the Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS)

Hope that cleared the confusion.
