Hi,

I have a Work Visa(closed) which is valid for three years. I wish to know how long can I delay entering Canada as I have personal commitments. If it is allowed to delay for more than a year, should I need to go through medicals again as they are valid for one year only.

Thanks
Madhu

Does your employer agree with you postponing for a year? I would assume if the employer has went to the expense and time of getting an LMIA, they would want you to start before then. What is the job title?

Not an expert on closed work permits, but I don't think it should be an issue (only my opinion). But hopefully somebody else with more experience with closed WP's will offer some advice.

I have no idea either either but assume that the work permit does not have any enter by date to simply activate it after which you can come and go as you please, subject to CBSA inspection of course.

Yes, you can delay your entry. Don't worry. I got my closed work permit in 2016 Dec. I entered Canada in 2017 Nov. I haven't faced any issues. During issue of work permit letter by CBSA, they might just ask the reason for delay landing. Same thing happened in my case.

Congratulations and God Bless!

May I know if:
what paper works you need to present ? Besides the
-passport stamped with visa
-letter of introduction
-contract

Were you required to present a letter from your employer indicating that he/she agreed on your entry date?

would they still browse the original documents that was previously required during visa processing such as LMIA, letters of reference, past employment certificates, police certificates, diploma and others...
