Today is the start of Citizenship Week 2018!

This year Citizenship week is October 8th-14th 2018. Looking at the schedules it seems there is an increase in Oath ceremonies, and I'm very proud that I'll be taking mine this week.

It also marks one year since the rules changed which enabled me (and I'm sure many of you all here) to become eligible much sooner than if the old rules still applied.

Please share your stories if you are scheduled to become Canadian this week! :)

The test isn't super hard - just make sure to have read the Discover Canada book a couple of times, and don't skip the captions for all the photos (especially from the history section) - you should know the names and what they did. I didn't get any trick questions or have to remember exact dates or anything crazy like that. Since it's multi choice, if you've read the book you'll most likely see an obvious answer out of the 4 options. Try not to be nervous, it's really not as bad as you're probably imagining!

For me, I had to wait around 8 weeks after the test to be notified of my oath date, and then the actual ceremony will be just over 2 weeks after that. But there are many examples of people who've been a lot faster, and also many who've taken significantly longer.
