PCC & Pre-ITA Questions

My CRS is at 444 at the moment, so I hoping to get an ITA in early October 2018 drawing given September 19, 2018 CRS cut off was 441.

Is it advisable to start getting PCC's done right away before getting an ITA?

I am an Indian living in the US and have an Indian passport issued from Chicago Consulate. Do I need to mail in the original passport if I DO NOT plan to go there in person?

• The instructions on the website are confusing. Under Applying by Mail section, It says "Photocopy of all supporting documents should be notarized and attached to the application. Do not send any original documents."
• Then under the subheading How to Apply, it says "Current Indian passport in original and photocopy of the first page and last page of the passport."

Also, payment is confusing. Fees are listed under Apply In Person section: "A non refundable fee of $27 (Twenty seven only). Applicants are requested to come with exact fee amount for efficient service."

So, does this mean that if we are applying by mail, we do not need to make a payment.

If anyone has been through the process recently and can share their thoughts, it will be most helpful. Thank you!

I can't speak to the process of getting an Indian PCC from the US, but yes, I'd advise starting right away. Especially with your score.

PCCs for countries where you resided in the past can be obtained at any time after your last stay there.

The PCC for the country where you currently reside must be no older than six months when you submit your PR application. It's issued in less than a week after you send in your fingerprints to the FBI. Good luck!

Yes start straightaway.

Yes you’re supposed to send original passport.

And yes you need to pay fees. Your interpretation is hilarious. Ha ha.

Also my suggestion would be if you can go in person apply in person. You can get your passport back on the spot. Also if your passport was issued in Chicago May be you will get pcc same day as well

Few days back a member reported that passport sent back by Chicago consulate was lost by usps. So if you’re sending by mail make sure to use fedex and or usps with tracking.

Thanks for your reply! I just called the consulate and they said no need to send in passport as long as we send attested/notarized copies of the same.

I am sorry for whoever lost their passport in mail. An additional stress for sure.

Thanks for your reply! I just called the consulate and they said no need to send in passport as long as we send attested copies of the same.

I am sorry for whoever lost their passport in mail. An additional stress for sure.

You can definitely go for PCC.
