Help seniors, regarding work experience letter: peculiar case

Hi everyone,

It’s my first post here, but I’ve been lurking here and in ROH threads since a couple of months.
Ok, I got all my docs ready except for my current employment experience letter. They are only providing a simple employment letter which doesn’t meet IRCC’s requirements. Of course, I didn’t mention the purpose as immigration to them. Rather I mentioned I needed it for applying to some distant learning course.

Now, they are telling that they will provide the detailed employment letter(meeting IRCC’s requirements) but it needs to be addressed to the university.

So here’s my question- can I use that letter for applying for express entry? I’m thinking that I’ll upload that letter along with LoE explaining that my employer is willing to address such letter only to Educational institutions. Also, I’ll attach the simple reference letter, payslips, employment contract, bank statements.

Please give your opinions on this, dear seniors.
Also, has anyone tried this before?

When I submitted my employment letter, it wasn't addressed to anyone in particular - my employer simply put "To whom it may concern"

Is your employer addressing it to a particular person at the university?

No, they refused to address as “To whom it may concern”. They told that due to confidentiality of the info, they need to address some university or an institution only.
No, they’ll just address to the university, not to a particular person.

Is there a reason you can't tell them its for permanent residency? Have they given you a job offer or do you just need the letter for points?

Actually I'm still under probationery period so if I tell them, I risk losing my job.
I need it for the points, as without it, I won’t be able to prove my 3 year experience points.

If it's possible to complete your probationary period before your express entry profile expires, then do that. Or, if you get along with your employer then simply explain your situation and ask if they would be willing to write you the letter. If you don't mind me asking, how would you potentially lose your job if you ask for the letter?

CIC rarely contacts employers to verify the information unless something raises their suspicion, and I'm guessing a letter addressed to a university might seem a bit odd.

You could include a LOE with your application explaining your situation and this may be accepted. I personally wouldn't risk it unless I had no other choice.

Another thing you could do is go for an initial consultation at an immigration lawyer which costs between $50 - $100, then briefly mention your situation. They should be able to give you an answer. They'll then try sell you their services of course but it may answer your question

It can be addressed to "Dear Batman" for all IRCC cares. The problem itself is whether they will confirm your duties/responsibilities among another pieces of information if they are contacted by IRCC.

They would think as if I’m gonna leave the company soon. Even if I’ll try to persuade I dont think they’re gonna buy it, coz it’s just been 4 months in this company.
I’m not worried if CIC contacts them or not later, I’m only worried if they would reject me just for this..
Thanks for your reply :)

Hi Del, the job responsibilities will be totally genuine so why would they respond negatively if ever IRCC enquires about it. Also, you mean it can be addressed to like “University of ...”, not just being any person? If IRCC doesn’t care for who it’s addressed to, then I think it should be fine. Anyway, what do you reckon?
Since you’ve been here a long time helping people, have you ever seen someone come across this kinda situation?
Many thanks for your reply :)

I don't know your employer so I can't comment on how they would react if they find out you mislead them. In regards to applicants using a letter addressed to someone else other than IRCC, yes, it is fairly common.

Okay, so you mean you do know people who had success in getting PR without a problem doing this, considering all other factors were fine. And if so, what would be the best explanation in LOE for this?

Like I said, it doesn't matter who the letter is addressed to so of course people have succeeded.

You are going to tell the truth in your LOE obviously, what you've stated in this thread is fine.
