Hi all

So the EE points for employment is based on 3 years of service. If I have a letter from my current employer (2.5 years) and my last but one employer (1 year) do I still need to get a letter from the employer in the middle? I can do so but they are a large firm and it will be a real pain to do so.

Thanks

I would say if you're right on the borderline in terms of CRS points (like 441), try to get all references letter so that you'll be able to claim the max points for work experience which is 3 years, so that you'll have your head above water.

If you're comfortably sitting above 440-441, which is the cut-off for the many last draws, I'd say just stick with the years you have now if it's a real pain getting the other one like you said. All the letters have to be per CIC requirements, so yeah I can understand it's a pain.

Thanks. I already have over 3 years of reference. I just wanted to know whether it had to be three consecutive years. If not, I'm happy with what I've got. Luckily, my current employer was very co-operative and worked with me to get the reference letter that I needed. It's definitely not 3 consecutive years that are required?

They don't have to be consecutive per se.
But the continuity requirement DOES apply to the 1-year minimum requirement in one primary NOC though.
So as long as you have the latter requirement you're good.
Once you enter the pool and enter your work experience for which you want to claim points, it will automatically compute the total years and points.

Are they all in the same NOC?

Thank you! Yes, all the same NOC
Good to go then!
Beyond this 1-year minimum requirement, you can add any additional work experience.
Note: You probably already thought of it but... in this case you'll need reference letters per CIC requirements for each work experience for which you're claiming points.
Cheers!
